A few of my students were asking about the music I've been playing during our independent work times. If you want some good beats to be productive to, listen to Nujabes!

Why Are Teachers So Tired All The Time? 😴
Research shows we make about 1,500 decisions a day! The constant requirement to ‘be on’ becomes DRAINING to our brains and bodies. It is called ‘Decision Fatigue’.
This explains a lot!!

For the rest of the week, the seniors & I are taking a respite from our research to write some eerie flash fiction for Halloween! Take some time to do something fun in your week :)
My Freshmen and I are working on a Google Slides "scrapbook" about how our year of school went. I decided to include a picture of Freshie Mr. S vs. Quarantine Beard Mr. S.
I often play jazz music during class, and so I left my students a link to the jazz stream I often use. I figured they could listen to it while they work on the day's lesson, and hopefully they feel a bit more connected to their peers and their teacher.
We're with our students in these strange times!

It is a blessing to be able to work with your best friend! Another blessing: our beards are much fuller now.
Four years ago, @tschultzteach and I were at NIU learning to become teachers. Today, we presented to teachers on how to integrate different forms of learning. Time flies. @DundeeCrownHS @dc_eng_dept #WalkMyWorld #DCWHAT #BestFriends #HomieLife
In English I today, we are reading the wonderful @maggiesmithpoet piece, "Good Bones."

I'm experiencing the struggle that my students feel when writing application essays, these days! Here's to hoping that I'll be spending summer vacation in either Salem studying the Puritans, or in Salinas studying Steinbeck.

College 101 was a class for the books! Building relationships with each of these students has lead to one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I look forward to hearing of the cool things they will be doing in college and beyond! Also, they made my bday today great!
