The poppy isn't political. It never has been.
It's a grandad who never came home. A young soldier who gave everything so we could live freely. A family still setting an empty place at the table.
Wearing one is a quiet way of saying "we remember you." Turning someone away for wearing a poppy is an insult to every veteran, every fallen hero, and everyone serving today.
Any business that turns people away for wearing a poppy should be boycotted, and deserves to go out of business for good. Not one penny of our money.
Wear yours with pride. 🌺🙏❤️🇬🇧

Just look at the Edinburgh Garden of Remembrance. Completely wrecked.
Our poppies and our remembrance are being sneered at more and more.
When people keep talking down the poppy and treating patriotism like something to be ashamed of, it sends a message. In my view, that's giving the vandals a green light.
War memorials defaced. Poppies ripped down. Tributes to our heroes disrespected.
The men and women who died for this country deserve better. Lest we forget means NEVER forget.

With so many people and businesses attacking our poppies and the simple act of remembrance, wear a poppy this year. It’s more important than ever.
These men and women gave everything for this country. We will not let the left hijack their memory or tarnish their sacrifice.
Stand with them.

In 2014, there were 888,246 ceramic poppies in total arranged around the Tower of London to mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of WW1.
Each individual poppy represented a British or Commonwealth service person killed during WW1.
A truly beautiful, beautiful tribute. We will remember them.

Snow leopard near Karakoram. There could be as few as 4,000 left, however the exact number is unknown as they are extremely elusive.

When my grandparents came here from Italy, nobody was kissing their asses trying to make them comfortable.
There was no “press 2 for Italian.” No expectation that the cashier, bank teller, or guy at the DMV spoke Italian. And they sure as fck didn’t demand it.
They learned English, worked their asses off, raised their families, and became proud Americans. They never forgot their roots, but they understood something we’ve apparently forgotten.
They came to America. America didn’t come to them.
Now expecting people to learn English is somehow controversial?
Give me a friggin break.
Be proud of your heritage. Speak whatever language you want at home. But don’t expect an entire country to adapt to you.
My grandparents came here to become Americans, not to turn America into Italy.
And I refuse to apologize for believing that still matters.

Let me remind you how devious and manipulative Olivia Chow can be, with a story from my own experience.
It was December 14, 2023. Chow rushed a motion onto the Council agenda on an "urgent" basis to rename Yonge-Dundas Square, Dundas Station, Dundas West Station, and a library.
Chow did this without notice and contrary to Council procedures. There was nothing "urgent" about the motion, except that it conveniently coincided with Chow's agreement with Doug Ford to rename the stadium at Centennial Park "Rob Ford Stadium."
Chow also cancelled the promised public consultations on renaming. She presented Council with one option for Yonge-Dundas Square - "Sankofa Square" or nothing.
This was completely contrary to Chow's promise in August 2023 to engage in public consultations on renaming, when her office stated that she was "eager to hear from concerned citizens."
At the December 2023 Council meeting, Chow uttered shockingly offensive and inaccurate claims about Henry Dundas. The low point was when she accused him of overseeing the capture of African children so they could be sent to Europe and the US where they would be bred to produce slaves for plantations.
It was la la land stuff.
Councillor Mike Colle backed up Chow by accusing Henry Dundas of being a henchman who forced Haitians to pay reparations to slave owners for the loss of their slaves. Fact check: It was the French who demanded reparations for emancipating slaves, 14 years after Henry Dundas died.
The lies landed. After Chow and Colle spoke, councillors who moments earlier had spoken against renaming lost their nerve and reversed themselves.
Before this meeting, the Henry Dundas Committee of Ontario had canvassed councillors and believed 50% opposed renaming.
The final vote was 19-2 in favour of changing the name of Yonge-Dundas Square to "Sankofa Square."

ALT Excerpt of email statement from Chow's office: "We are encouraging the active participation of Torontonians in the forthcoming public feedback process that will follow the release of the shortlist from the Community Advisory Committee this fall. While the Mayor stands behind Council's original motion to rename Dundas Street, she is also eager to hear from concerned citizens and to encourage public involvement in a matter that resonates throughout the city and beyond. We welcome the ongoing engagement with the public regarding this issue."
Just over a year ago, Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow erased Canadian history at the heart of Toronto … pushing through the renaming of Yonge-Dundas Square to Sankofa Square by cancelling public consultations.
RJ Grubb of Zoomer News looks at how Chow silenced her critics in what one insider called a “sham process.”

#Punctuation please.
• “hopes to owning” is incorrect. It should be “hopes of owning” (or “hopes for owning”).
• Missing article: it should normally be “a boat”.
• Headline style often drops articles, but the preposition error still stands.
