🇫🇮 The Mayor of Tampere has proposed that Russian figure skaters should not be issued visas for the 2027 World Figure Skating Championships.
The Mayor of the Finnish city of Tampere, Ilmari Nurminen, has submitted a proposal to Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs calling for visas to be denied to Russian figure skaters ahead of the World Championships.
“We have approached the Ministry for Foreign Affairs with a proposal not to issue visas to Russians. It is still unclear whether Russian athletes will take part in the World Championships. We need a government decision stating that visas will not be issued to athletes representing Russia - that would resolve the issue.
We do not want a situation in which Russian athletes arrive here, because in that case the entire problem would fall on the city,” Nurminen was quoted as saying by Iltalehti.

Finland, the reigning world champion, has announced that it will refuse to play against Russia at the Ice Hockey World Championships as long as Russia's invasion of Ukraine continues.
Finland is now working with other Nordic and major European hockey nations to form a united boycott front.
If enough countries join, holding the tournament with Russia participating could become impossible.
Meanwhile, Germany is considering withdrawing as host of the 2027 World Championships if Russia is allowed to compete.
imo this was an amazing women's event. there definitely were some questionable score choices... but overall the podium makes sense. very unfortunate what happened to jia in the SP. she definitely could've fought for this podium. hopefully it goes nowhere but up from here!
tbh i think they could've gone higher with saki's pcs or bit lower with isabeau's which could've given saki a bronze
they need to invent more edge jumps so that isabeau never has to use a toe pick to take off the ice ever again
