We put Bill Owney in the @Toyota RAV4 Woodland plug-in. 302 hp, 0-60 in 5.5, and the old RAV4 choppiness is gone. $49,130 as tested. His lesson from owning a plug-in: they only shine if you actually plug them in.

Paul Valentine was at the British Emporium's fall car and motorbike show in Grapevine on Sunday. Perfect weather, a big turnout of British iron, and the semi-annual Corgi parade. His photos:

The new Roadster looks so awesome, but I will admit I was super excited to see the other design on the roads
This new look definitely aligns more with the future aesthetic
I spent a week in the 2026 @GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X AEV around DFW. Lifted, armored, DSSV dampers and lockers, and the 3.0 Duramax still returned low-20s mpg. Calm on I-30, easy on ranch roads. $89,800 as tested. Buy once, cry once.

Ford dropped off a Ranger Raptor this week. Avalanche paint, 17 inch beadlock capable wheels, 285 all terrains, Fox Live Valve shocks, $62,430 as tested. I once said the FX4 was enough Ranger for most people. Let's see if this one changes my mind.
Paul Valentine has been covering these British Emporium events for a while now, and his notes on the latest Fall show hit the right tone. The turnout, the weather, the Corgis, and the steady thanks to Sheela Bailey and the staff all come through without any extra fluff. Appreciate him taking the time to put this one together.

We put Bill Owney in the redesigned @Lexus ES 350h. 244 hp hybrid, about 44 mpg, and five gallons of regular for under $18 bought him 220 miles. Not fast, but effortless. His take: calm is a performance metric, and Lexus tunes for it.

Friday's txGarage newsletter: the Maverick LOBO finally drives like a fun truck, the Subaru Uncharted is quick but soft off-road, and the GV70 3.5T is smooth but thirsty. Subscribe, and send it to someone who owns a Maverick or a GV70.

I spent a week in the 2027 @KiaAmerica Telluride X-Pro. The new 2.5 turbo makes 311 lb-ft, 49 more than the old V6, and you feel it. 17.5 mpg in mixed Texas driving, 22.3 cubes behind row three. Might be the most complete three-row Kia has built.

We put Bill Owney in the all-new @MazdaUSA CX-5. 187 hp, 0-60 in 9.6 per Mazda, and the turbo is gone. He didn't care. Best handling in the class, AWD standard, 26 mpg combined, $40,485 as tested. The crossover you take the long way home in.

Bill Owney brought his usual steady hand to this one, laying out exactly why the 2026 ES 350h feels like the clearest expression of what Lexus does best. txgarage.com/2026/10/2026-le…

A cold front coming through by the end of the week will bring rain chances along with a subtle drop in temperatures. #txwx

In my Maverick Tremor review I said I didn't want my truck to feel like a hot hatch. The 2026 @Ford Maverick LOBO does, and I'm eating those words. Most fun Maverick I've driven. 20.9 mpg for my week, $45,870 as tested. That price is the problem.

Sixty years ago this summer, Jim Hall's Chaparral won the Nurburgring 1000 Km, built in Midland, not LA or Maranello. Dave Boldt says George Levy's Texas Legend finally puts Hall front and center. If you missed the book, order it now.

Every 2027 @Dodge Durango is a V8 now. No more V6. The R/T 392 is the one I'd look at: 6.4 HEMI, 475 hp, 0-60 in 4.4 per Dodge, 8,700 lb towing and seven seats standard. Still a muscle car for the family man.

The 2026 @Ford Expedition MAX King Ranch stickers at $99,350 as tested. Seven seats, 400 hp, 9,000 lb towing, and a lot of leather.
Is that a smart buy or Navigator money in a Ford suit? Our verdict is coming.
