What if “LAWLESS” is the spiritual sequel to “VISA”?
“VISA” confronts the frustration of having the talent, ambition, and something meaningful to offer, yet still needing someone else’s approval to move forward. The visa/bisa wordplay makes that tension especially sharp: your ability is already there, but its opportunity to take effect is left waiting for permission.
Then “LAWLESS” changes the posture. Its rejection of someone else’s authority and insistence that no box can contain them feel like an answer to that frustration. Where “VISA” challenges the barriers placed in your way, “LAWLESS” declares that those barriers will not decide who you become.
Parang after all the requirements, scrutiny, and waiting, you finally say: “Denied? Whatthehelly. I’m still going to do what I came here to do.” The deeper connection is about refusing to let rejection become your identity. Someone can deny you entry, recognition, or an opportunity without having the final say on your worth or your creative direction.
Read together, the songs trace a compelling emotional progression: frustration becomes resolve, and the need for approval gives way to self-belief. “VISA” asks why Filipino talent has to keep proving itself. “LAWLESS” sounds like the moment that talent decides to take control and move forward on its own terms.

X is busy dissecting why K-pop is losing ground in the Philippines and Indonesia. It’s actually not that deep. Once you follow idols like Stell and @SB19Official your standards go way up and suddenly, you’re a lot harder to impress. Simple as that.

SB19 and Yama-chan reunited!! ❤️❤️❤️
@SB19Official @YAMA414 @ntv_DayDay
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Yamasato-san and the DayDay. team for using their platform to support charitable efforts for children in the Philippines through the Akamegane Shokudo Charity. ❤️
Your kindness, generosity, and compassion remind us that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference in the lives of children. Your efforts bring hope, support, and smiles to those who need them most.
As Filipinos and supporters of SB19, we are truly grateful to see this beautiful act of kindness reaching across borders and bringing Japan and the Philippines closer together.
Thank you, Yamasato-san, DayDay., and everyone involved in the Akamegane Shokudo Charity, for extending a helping hand to Filipino children.
Your generosity means so much to us, and we sincerely appreciate everything you do.
Thank you SB19 and Ninang PureGold @Puregold_PH ❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing kindness beyond borders and making a difference in the lives of children.
心からの感謝を込めて、ありがとうございます!

Imo, I think 1Z should have the option to use the term “subunit” for cross-group combinations of its artists if it chooses to. Many of us see 1Z as one family of artists anyway, so calling a smaller combination of them a 1Z subunit feels natural. The word "subunit" also flows better (one word and one less syllable), easy to remember and sounds very functional.

Stell choosing the fan in the blue wig as his partner, hugging her, and treating her like an old friend was such a touching gesture, especially on their 8th anniversary. 🥹💙
It felt like he was witnessing their journey come full circle—from performing as a girl group in front of just a handful of believers to now filling arenas and bringing Filipino music to the global stage and creating their own music festival.
I truly believe that every anniversary should honor not just the artists, but also the people who believed in them from the very beginning. And I love that SB19 is doing just that. ❤️
Salamat sa mga unang taong naniwala sa simula palang.
Mahalima hanggang sa huli. Happy 8th anniversary, @SB19Official! Mahal na mahal ko kayo. 🥹💙

Thanks, @WORLDMUSICAWARD !
I’ve spent most of my life outside the Philippines, and for a long time, going back wasn’t something I thought much about. Then I discovered these guys. Now, not a day goes by that I don’t think about coming home to see them.
They remind me of so much of what I love about the Philippines: the optimism, the hard work, the love of music, and the warmth, things I’ve missed more than I realized.
So, SB19, I’ll see you soon, okay? Hopefully on a stage back in the Philippines, where I know you shine brightest. Until then, I’ll keep working and saving to make it happen. 😂
Happy 8th anniversary, and thank you for the music! Let’s all keep going up!
Happy 8th Anniversary to the undisputed Kings of P-pop, #SB19!💪🇵🇭👑👑👑👑👑🥳8⃣🎂❤️🔥
Trailblazers #Pablo, #Josh, #Stell, #Ken & #Justin have come so far since their 2018 debut with “Tilaluha”, rewriting the rules of Filipino music on the global stage! They are the most-streamed Philippine Male Group in history with over 1.1 Billion streams! They were the first Southeast Asian and Filipino act nominated for Top Social Artist at the Billboard Music Awards and the first Filipino act to top Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart with "DAM"! SB19 are a live Powerhouse, the 1st Philippine Act to to storm Lollapalooza, with the Philippine Tourism Department describing it as a historic first for Filipino artists at one of the world’s biggest music festivals! They are the first Philippine Act to sell out the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan for 2 consecutive nights, kicking off their Simula at Wakas World Tour (May 31–June 1, 2025). The first night sold out in under seven hours, the first Filipino act in history to achieve this, which led to a second consecutive sold-out night in the world’s largest indoor arena and 110,000 attendees over the 2 nights! They are the 1st Philippine Act to open their own Agency (1Z Entertainment)!
SB19 have won an impressive trophy case as the Kings of P-pop, racking up over 80 wins across major local and international stages, more than any other Philippine Group! They rule the Awit Awards, having won a horde of honors including Best Global Recording, Best Dance Recording, Best Rap/Hip-hop Recording, Music Video of the Year, and Best Global Collaboration for tracks like “What?,” “Bazinga,” “Gento,” “Moonlight,” and “Kalakal,” while also sweeping categories at the Wish 107.5 Music Awards, including multiple Group of the Year and Wishclusive Performance wins! They have also won PMPC Star Awards for Music (Album, Song, and Concert of the Year), and Myx Music Awards (Artist and Song of the Year)! Internationally they claimed the Asia Artist Awards Best Artist (Singer), the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Favorite Asian Act, Billboard Korea’s Voices of Asia Award, plus the inaugural Filipino Music Awards Artist of the Year and multiple Concert/Tour of the Year trophies, alongside major wins at the P-Pop Music Awards and Box Office Entertainment Awards, cementing their status as one of the most decorated acts in OPM history.
SB19 turned P-pop into a worldwide movement and proved A’TIN’s power is unstoppable with eight years of top-selling anthems like “Gento,” “Mapa,” and “Bazinga,” and pure Filipino pride that keeps going higher!

There are major differences between the Filipino music and film industries, but there are similarities worth studying, too. We could all probably write long essays about this, but the short answer is: if people in the film industry want to learn how Filipino music is thriving locally while reaching a global audience, they should study what SB19 did and how they are doing it. Better yet, sit down with them. Their experience won’t answer everything, but it offers valuable lessons. Start with the people who are already doing the work and doing it well.
