Taking a moment

“I’m trying to take a moment and see things from his perspective,” I comment to another parent as a teacher takes my son aside for a walk because he was running around instead of “dancing” to Soda …

Sharing is suffering

Reading something the other day triggered a core memory of something that happened when I was a year younger than Benjamin is now. Two mothers brought their babies (both around two-years-old at the…

The joy of pedaling

My son learned to bicycle today. I didn’t learn until I was six, and he’s just shy of 5 1/4, so I have no reason to have been as disappointed/exasperated as I was. He’s been able to move around on …

“Move over humans, there’s something leaner…”

M— sent me this article over text message, but I became more enamored in the cover of the cookbook in the preview pic, rather than the content of the parody post. I instantly recognized the thing i…

My recollection is that by the mid 1980’s a C64 cost $50 on the used market. However a disk drive for it was over $100. (Disk drive, not hard drive). As an owner of an Apple ][+ O would admit the C64 was the better value, even with the disk drive needed. daringfireball.net/linked/20…

It’ll always be “Chiji’s” to me (and my son?)

This morning Benjamin told us there was no eye in chiji. It took a while before we realized he meant the letter ”I” and not an “eye — ”no, the i with a dot in it!” After some more forensic analysis…

The bear market is turning me into a bad person

I ran across this article reinterpreting strategist Peter Berezin’s comments regarding the market. Instead of the predictions, or him being right, or the definitely-going-to-be-misinterpreted sugge…

My first dice were the wrong color

At work, I mentioned my first dice I ever had were the “wrong color” because the Basic D&D set I had, had a chit card, instead of dice. I cut up the card and put them in Silo cups labeled with …

My 3.5 yo son: I saw someone pull out a sword and stick it in his belly. Me: Where the heck does he get this stuff? He’s only been watching alphablocks and Duggee. Marie: Maybe we shouldn’t have binge watched Shogum.

TBH "Give self pandemic haircut" because I'm too lazy to look for a new barber after moving house is not a skill I expected to have and I have mixed feelings about the whole thing.

I, of course, voted for Schiff. Was pretty neutral amongst those two and Lee (my current Rep now that I’m in Oakland) but Barbara Boxer’s endorsement told me there is something sus about Porter to stop my fence sitting.
