If your birthday wasn’t announced by @CityAndStateNY and @politicony, were you even born?
Thanks for all the well wishes, friends!

Hopping back on here with a quick update: After nearly six years, I’ve stepped away from my role at @TechNYC.
I’ll continue to advise on a few projects over the coming months, and I’m really excited for what the organization has in the works this year.
It’s time for me to explore other opportunities, but I feel like I’ve had a front row seat to so many defining moments for New York tech – and I’m forever grateful @juliepsamuels and the team for being in the trenches with me to help tell those stories. Forever long on NYC. 🗽
Behind-the-scenes snap: In between some pretty important votes at the Capitol, @SenSchumer made sure to hop on with the boss @juliepsamuels about why it’s important we get AI regulation right.
Thanks to @RichardBuery, @alexisohanian, & the fab @RobinHoodNYC team for having us!
Because I feel selfish when I don't share recs of books I loved: Just finished @IsaacFitzgerald's wonderful DIRTBAG, MASSACHUSETTS.
In particular, his essay "Maybe I Could Die This Way." I'll be thinking about one tiny clause in it—"Nothing happens in order"—for a long time.
good morning, I’m a [redacted] year old man and my mom and still calls me to make sure I’m awake in time for my early-morning flights, thanks mom
I’m en route to San Juan for #Somos2023! Holler if you’re in town so I can invite you to @TechNYC’s happy hour!

also me: suddenly finds sorting my silverware very urgent
For NY Tech Week, I wanted to do one event a little differently: take journalists out of the moderator chair and into panelist slots. 👀
Very grateful to @DominicMadori, @ryanaxios, @CarolineHydeTV, & @alexrkonrad for agreeing to join us. The excellent @kellylsims will moderate.
Another @TechNYC board meeting in the books! (First takeaway: squeezing 50 founders and investors into a single selfie with the Governor is not easy!)
But for real: A lot of super smart New Yorkers in the room today, and we're already cooking up a lot of new projects. Really excited to keep working with this group: blog.technyc.org/news/announ…
Tech folks: On 10/11, I’m co-hosting a summit to highlight the founders I think are doing the most exciting work in the New York ecosystem.
Featuring CEOs of @Altana_AI, @Clear, @getesusu, @BBGVentures, @hello_orum, and more.
I have a handful of free tix to give out. DM me!
Took me an embarrassing amount of time to catch up on this essay, but @JiayangFan, as she always does, wrote the HELL out of this.
Straight to the top of the list of the best pieces I've read this year: newyorker.com/magazine/2023/…
An exciting day at @TechNYC: I got to publicly announce our new, expanded Board, a group of 60 founders, investors, & other tech executives here in New York. And I have to say: the list of names is lit.
Really excited to work more closely with this group: bit.ly/3RlFKKu
