🌊2026 beach and pool data, the longest season in more than a decade🌊 More than 15M people visited city beaches, nearly double last year’s attendance of around 8M. More than 1M people visited city pools. More than 1,100 lifeguards, most since 2019

Brownsville is among the most flash flood-vulnerable neighborhoods in New York City. This concept was developed BY/WITH the Brownsville community. Kudos to @NYCMayor for making it happen! A network of these rain gardens across the city can save lives. Everyone’s a critic.
When people in Brownsville, the highest-crime section of NYC (and with typically miserable bus service), were asked what they needed most from the city, most apparently said, "bus stop shelters with green roofs covered with native plants, and reflective roofs covered with low-cost, heat-resilient film." It's almost as if he is speaking to someone else.

Let there be as much outrage from politicians in Washington when kids go hungry as there is when I break bread with New Yorkers.
The enemy is inside the gates.

Despite Real Estate Interest attempt to spin.. @NYCMayor is supportive of COPA and ready to defend it. The City Council should stand by its own legislation and can make any amendments it sees fit.

From Brooklyn Navy Yard to Hudson River Park Trust, all contracts that allow ICE to operate or do business on city-owned land must be terminated. Our city cannot and will not be complicit in the Trump administration’s kidnapping of our neighbors.

Mamdani and Shimamura are both framing parks as an affordability issue. They are "the rare corner of our city that are truly accessible and affordable to each and every person who calls the city home," Mamdani says, later quoting Olmsted and MC Shan

Go Lindsey! A brave and principled leader. Also a true parks and waterfront champion, which we continue to need in the City Council 🗽🌊
“What began as a determined effort to prevent Andrew Cuomo’s return to power became one of the most renewing experiences of my life... Now I’m committed to giving back to the New Yorkers who restored my faith in what we can build together…”

In Washington Heights, handyman Juan Carlos Montoya was electrocuted trying to deploy a pump in the building’s flooded boiler room. Friends remembered the father of 5 as gregarious and generous, and loved treating neighborhood kids to candy. thecity.nyc/2025/10/31/flood…
