This affects almost everyone. 82% of US TV households own a smart TV. The average home has two. Samsung alone has 73 million smart TVs in US homes. Confirmed in the Texas lawsuit. If you own a TV made in the last 5 years, it's probably doing this right now. Unless you've turned it off. Here's how. Brand by brand.

🚨 Someone just turned your WiFi router into a full-body surveillance system. No cameras. No wearables. No video. Just radio waves. It's called RuView. It uses the WiFi signals already in your room to detect human poses, track breathing, measure heart rate, and see through walls. Not a concept. Not a research paper. Working code you can run right now. Here's what this thing actually does: → Tracks full 17-point body pose using only WiFi signals → Detects breathing rate (6-30 BPM) without touching anyone → Measures heart rate (40-120 BPM) from across the room → Sees through walls, furniture, and debris up to 5 meters deep → Tracks multiple people simultaneously with zero identity swaps → Self-learns from raw WiFi data. No labeled datasets needed Here's how it works: WiFi signals pass through your room and hit the human body. The body scatters those signals differently based on position, breathing, even heartbeat. RuView reads that scattering pattern and reconstructs everything. A mesh of 4 ESP32 nodes ($48 total) gives you 360-degree coverage with 12 measurement links, 20 Hz updates, and sub-30mm precision. Here's the wildest part: It has a disaster response mode called WiFi-Mat. It detects survivors trapped under rubble through concrete walls, classifies injury severity using START triage protocol, and estimates 3D position. The kind of tool that saves lives after earthquakes. The Rust implementation processes 54,000 frames per second. That's 810x faster than the Python version. The entire Docker image is 132 MB. The AI model fits in 55 KB of memory. Runs on an $8 ESP32 chip. Train once, deploy in any room. No retraining. No recalibration. 1,100+ tests. SHA-256 verified capability audit. 22.4K GitHub stars. 2.7K forks. MIT License. 100% Open Source.

Colonialism extracted wealth and shattered societies. Millions laid down their lives to win freedom from it. America leads by its ideals—not nostalgia for empire.
Not long after World War II the West dissolved its empires and colonies and began sending colossal sums of taxpayer-funded aid to these former territories (despite have already made them far wealthier and more successful). The West opened its borders, a kind of reverse colonization, providing welfare and thus remittances, while extending to these newcomers and their families not only the full franchise but preferential legal and financial treatment over the native citizenry. The neoliberal experiment, at its core, has been a long self-punishment of the places and peoples that built the modern world.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has declared a state of emergency and ordered the implementation of all national defense contingencies, in response to tonight’s military operation against Venezuela by the United States.

First statement by the Government under Venezuela’s Leader Nicolás Maduro: “The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects, repudiates, and denounces before the international community the extremely serious military aggression perpetrated by the current Government of the United States of America against Venezuelan territory and population in the civilian and military localities of the city of Caracas, capital of the Republic, and the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira. This act constitutes a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, particularly its Articles 1 and 2, which enshrine respect for sovereignty, the legal equality of States, and the prohibition on the use of force. Such aggression threatens international peace and stability, specifically in Latin America and the Caribbean, and endangers the lives of millions of people. The objective of this attack is none other than to seize Venezuela's strategic resources, particularly its oil and minerals, attempting to break the Nation's political independence by force. They will not succeed. After more than two hundred years of independence, the people and their legitimate Government remain steadfast in defense of sovereignty and the inalienable right to decide their own destiny. The attempt to impose a colonial war to destroy the republican form of government and force a "regime change," in alliance with the fascist oligarchy, will fail just like all previous attempts. Since 1811, Venezuela has faced and defeated empires. When in 1902 foreign powers bombarded our coasts, President Cipriano Castro proclaimed: "The insolent boot of the foreigner has profaned the sacred soil of the Fatherland." Today, with the moral fortitude of Bolívar, Miranda, and our liberators, the Venezuelan people rise once again to defend their independence against imperialist aggression. People to the streets The Bolivarian Government calls on all social and political forces in the country to activate mobilization plans and repudiate this imperialist attack. The people of Venezuela and its Bolivarian National Armed Forces, in perfect popular-military-police fusion, are deployed to guarantee sovereignty and peace. Simultaneously, the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace will raise the corresponding denunciations before the United Nations Security Council, the Secretary-General of that organization, CELAC, and the Non-Aligned Movement, demanding condemnation and accountability from the United States Government. President Nicolás Maduro has ordered all national defense plans to be implemented at the appropriate time and circumstances, in strict adherence to the provisions of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Organic Law on States of Exception, and the Organic Law on National Security. In this regard, President Nicolás Maduro has signed and ordered the implementation of the Decree declaring a State of External Commotion throughout the national territory, to protect the rights of the population, the full functioning of republican institutions, and to immediately proceed to armed struggle. The entire country must activate to defeat this imperialist aggression Likewise, he has ordered the immediate deployment of the Command for the Comprehensive Defense of the Nation and the Comprehensive Defense Directorate Bodies in all states and municipalities of the country. In strict adherence to Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, Venezuela reserves the right to exercise legitimate defense to protect its people, its territory, and its independence. We call on the peoples and governments of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the world to mobilize in active solidarity against this imperialist aggression. As Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez Frías stated, “in the face of any circumstance of new difficulties, no matter how great, the response of all and every patriot… is unity, struggle, battle, and victory.” Caracas, January 3, 2026

We got news today that due to Trump's new executive order freezing all Federal grants (paused by a Judge today), we might have to stop work on a project we are doing to map wildfire threats and design thinning and burning projects adjacent to communities across Plumas County. The same USDA grant program is paying for similar work we are doing for Shasta and Yuba Counties. Are we supposed to lay off our entire staff until DC gets their shit together? Does anyone in government know how hard it is to retain skilled people? I'm not sure if many people understand how much of the U.S. economy, especially in rural parts of America, relies on Federal grant money. The grant freeze (among many other things) would halt most of the wildfire hazard reduction projects in the country, stop most road/highway projects, shut down most rural clinics or drug treatment programs, delay delivery of fire trucks and rescue apparatus to fire departments, and lay off most Federal contractors, including loggers and off-season firefighters who are working on fuels thinning jobs for the US Forest Service. Disruption is needed, but uncertainty is bad for business and hurts a lot of people that just want to do the work.

I am incredibly saddened this morning to have learned about the passing of Guy Clifton. Guy was a true son of Nevada who deeply loved our great state. He loved teaching so many about Nevada’s rich history — and he did it with great pride. Guy was a friend to everyone he met. “You know you’re a Nevadan if you met Guy Clifton.” I would like to send my condolences to Guy’s family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Absolutely biblical skies in Tasmania at 4am this morning. I’m leaving today and knew I could not pass up this opportunity for such a large solar storm. Here’s the image. I actually had to de-saturate the colours. Clouds glowing red. Insane. Shot on Nikon. Rt appreciated
