uPortal 5.17.9 + SimpleContentPortlet 3.4.4 are out: log4j-core removed (logging now via slf4j), S3 storage off the EOL AWS SDK v1 → v2, plus JGroups + LESS skin fixes. Drop-in for most deployers. Release notes on GitHub + the Google Group.
Resource-server consolidation lands across the uPortal stack: v5.17.8, SimpleContent 3.4.3, Feedback 1.3.2, NewsReader 5.1.5. /ResourceServingWeb/ → /resource-server/, CKEditor 4 → webjar 4.22.1, Handlebars → native. Drop-in upgrades.
Some uPortal housekeeping: JasigWidgetPortlets retired from the default deployment. The Google Loader (2015), Maps v3.6, and Gadgets (~2016) sunsets killed most of those widgets years ago. Cleaner installs going forward. #uPortal #openSource #highered
