On 11 July, we remember. We remember the more than 8,000 Bosniak Muslim men and boys murdered in the Srebrenica genocide. We honour survivors, victims’ families and the Mothers of Srebrenica, and we stand against anti-Muslim hatred, dehumanisation, division, and genocide denial. Srebrenica must never be forgotten. We’ll never forget. #Srebrenica31

British Muslim Network is a civil society network that aims to help build a country in which everyone feels valued, heard, protected and respected. British Muslim communities hold immense talent, expertise and potential, which can offer solutions not just to our own challenges, but to those of wider British society. BMN is building a diverse network of Muslim leaders reflecting a plurality of British Muslim perspectives and experiences. We bring together doers and thinkers, activists and strategists to mobilise the best of British Muslim expertise for the benefit of British society.

We joined the round table highlighting trauma & pain felt by BMN members about ongoing humanitarian suffering in Gaza. Discussions raised shared commitment to humanity, upholding international law, recognising Palestinian statehood & honouring our commitment to 2state solution
The suffering in Gaza is horrifying. Today I hosted an important roundtable with @LordWajidKhan with members of UK Muslim communities to discuss the impact of the war across the UK. I was grateful for their insight and the frank discussion on intercommunity relations.

The British Muslim Network has today welcomed the announcement of a formal Government review to define anti-Muslim hatred/Islamophobia - but warned that it must include the views of British Muslim communities to be legitimate. 🧵(1/ )
The rise in anti-Muslim hate crime is unacceptable and has no place in our society. Today I am launching a new working group, chaired by Dominic Grieve KC, to define Anti-Muslim Hatred/Islamophobia. gov.uk/government/news/gover…

Julie Siddiqi from the British Muslim Network said: “This announcement has been years in the making - it should simply not have taken this long. Now that it’s finally underway - the process must actively include the views of British Muslim communities.” (2/ )
