I think we need to have a candid conversation about parasocial relationships in the streaming space.
People forget they know a LOT more about streamers than we do about them and it inherently creates an unbalanced dynamic. People have gotten so upset that I haven’t DM’d them back, taken up invites or given special treatment at IRL events; which always leaves me confused because a lot of this is behavior I reserve only for my close friendships.
Steamers simply do not have the capacity to get to know everyone or build friendships with every person. It truly isn’t personal. We have a full life outside of our online presence and I think people forget that because they think they see ALL of us on stream when it’s a fraction of who we are.
I try to be as kind as possible whenever I interact with anyone, but I think that kindness is often misread as special treatment when I treat EVERYone with kindness. However, being nice isn’t an invitation to make assumptions about closeness or push boundaries.
As streamers it’s ok to set firm boundaries and let people know when they’re making you uncomfortable. If they continue to push things, it’s also ok to remove those who refuse to respect you and/or your space 💜
We hosted our first-ever Xen Gaming LAN this weekend in Dallas and we absolutely crushed it.
We had less than a week to promote the event and 50+ people still showed up. Some drove 10+ hours, others flew across the country, all to come hang out, compete, and support Xen at our very own LAN.
We brought out 7 Xen members, had 4 competing live, and gave away 5 Philips TVs - 4 people walked out of the venue with a brand-new 50" TV, while another giveaway was promoted to our online community.
This was our first time hosting something like this and we pulled it together with just 5 days of promotion. Can’t wait to scale this and do something even bigger in the near future.
Now… who wants to sponsor the next one? 👀

No I didn't get paid to say that the Season was good when I play tested, I said it was good because I genuinely enjoyed it. I played for only a couple hours and was facing bot lobbies and everything was fresh and new and exciting.
Yes I will say I hate the game when I get eliminated and I will say I love the game the very next game if I win.
Yes I crashout and will continue to do it as I'm extremely passionate when good or bad things happen and people also seem to find it entertaining.
No I don't like this season more than last season, but overall it's a fun season so far, the talented sweaty players just make me crash out sometimes.
Yes I suck at Fortnite but I'll still complain and ready up immediately after because I love playing and bringing entertainment to the thousands of live viewers that enjoy watching my content and stay to watch even though they know I might not even win a game.
This is where the fun begins.

Hot take. When I support another streamer, I don’t expect a thing. I don’t expect them to come to my channel, to gift or subscribe, or even to always notice me in their chats. I support them because I support good people that build inclusive spaces. If you support someone stop attaching expectations onto them. Support them because you want to, not because you see them as leverage.
