I thought Rap Twitter had solved the issue of the correct name for The Beanuts first LP. And then The Mighty V.I.C. says this....

It's really one of the best books I've read about rap history, period. Robbie did an incredible job arranging it like a detective story, getting multiple angles on the same stories and questions. An embarrassment of riches, bud, just a 10/10

We go back a ways. That's MCDJ Force from Top Choice bottom left, above him Alain Jean-Baptiste (Ugli Kids) and me top right with DJ KooKoo in the Fila hat. Photo taken in 1986 for an article by Magnus in the Feb 1987 issue of Boston Rock.

From Boston Rock, February 1987. Text by Magnus, already bemoaning Jambox's demise. We'd return separately, battling each other to the top of the Lecco's Lemma playlists. And one of us, perhaps thinking to himself with the most peace of mind, managed to truly push it past red.

I never knew Keith personally, but I rubbed shoulders with him in the Lecco's Lemma studio at MIT a couple times when he was there to get a tape played. Even then he was more about producing real songs, not just performing live with a beatboxer as the rest of us were. Good times.

Predator is my fav Cube album. It also was the most in touch with what was going on in LA at the time.

Ice Cube probably would have really retired for a time and focused on his movie career if the riots didn’t happen. He had been telling us for years that the city was ready to explode. And then it did. Imagine being a 23-year-old prophet.

I once accompanied Breeze as he traveled from Philly to NYC to collect his 'Superbad' profits from a few of the vinyl shops. I recall he wasn't too happy with his earnings, but I had the opposite reaction: being overly impressed by like $400.

Wow to that O.G., #German vinyl.

The @unkut degenerate rap truancy table looks like Roc Marciano, Meyhem Lauren, Kool Keith, The Doppelgangaz and Grand Daddy I.U.
