Horrible day to trade options. Only one hit its target; the rest were EOD executions, although many were in profit.
BTW, before you ask, I tested closing positions after 90 minutes to reduce theta decay for options, but there was no significant improvemnet statistically (only slightly for 0DTEs closer to EOD), so I let them run through EOD. All models were profitable. 💰

Finn’s trade plan mapped a yellow No-Trade Zone between $1014.53 and $1021.45:
🟢 Bullish Trigger: Break above $1021.45 (High of Day)
🔴 Bearish Trigger: Breakdown below $1014.53 (Low of Day)
🟡 Current Price: $1020.00 (Trapped in chop)
The signal said Bullish, but the plan said: WAIT.
What happened next:
1️⃣ Price never broke the $1021.45 bullish trigger
2️⃣ Slipped below $1014.53 to trigger the fade
3️⃣ Sliced into Target 1 ($1012.77) & Target 2 ($1010.00 Gamma Flip)
4️⃣ Backtested $1012.77: Old support became new resistance
5️⃣ Flushed into Target 3 ($1007.31) and closed near $1003.50

Finally, a red day for the EZPZ Auto Trader since October 14, and I’m actually happy to see it.
A model that never loses should raise questions. In Popper’s words, a hypothesis has to be exposed to conditions under which it can fail.
Today, the market struggled to produce even half an ATR move, creating an environment that strongly favored theta sellers over directional traders.
Statistically, these types of days, where the open and close are almost identical with very little ATR movement, are rare and part of the market games.
The model lost money today, but the loss was small relative to its recent winning days. This was important to see and very encouraging.
That’s exactly the kind of data we need. What I would do to improve it is reduce the number of trades under these conditions if this type of occurrence happens more than 20% of the time, which I highly doubt it does. I’ll run a backtest to find out what percentage of days we see a daily doji with minimal to no wick.

The EZPZ Algo traded in-the-money options, which are generally more expensive but can offer a more conservative setup than far out-of-the-money contracts.
That included two TSLA trades, both expiring on the 23rd, with each contract costing around $1,200. Both TSLA trades ended in losses today, so smaller accounts may want to disable TSLA.
Even with those higher-cost trades, the maximum capital required at any one time today was only $4,786.
