A great gift of Gregg Henriques’s integrative metatheory @utokworld is the idea that humans are justifying apes. So the breakdown of the US can be explained simply as what happens when our social justification systems become disconnected from the power that regulates those societies.

How does meaning "complexify"?
The Unified Theory of Knowledge (UTOK) is a big history framework that offers perhaps the best map of cosmic complexification to date. As creator Gregg Henriques summarizes, "genetic information processing gives rise to the dimension of Life, neuronal information processing gives rise to the dimension of Mind, and symbolic information processing gives rise to the dimension of Culture."
If meaning is a kind of information processed by entities to stay far from equilibrium, then this kind of information has been complexifying through cosmic evolution. In fact, as a person operating on the Culture plane of complexity, YOU are processing meaningful information at genetic, neuronal, and symbolic levels RIGHT NOW.
What meaning looks like in Culture as it complexifies is the focus of my work.
