if turek wins, pundits will say that abandoning trans people (and trans healthcare) is a good path to winning elections. If he loses, pundits will conclude that “trans activists” hurt his campaign and are therefore a danger to democrats electorally and not worth protecting. lol

so much of intracommunal queer discourse is downstream of the idea that, on a fundamental level, Queerness is a Western bourgeoise degeneracy

this encapsulates everything people have been saying - a lot of people on here don't actually believe that queer people are an oppressed minority, so they get upset when we compare our experiences to other experiences of oppression.
"attack"? Please be serious being criticized online is not an attack. People say this because many white queers are antiBlack. You are antiblack. You aren't an oppressed minority because you are queer. These are different systems of oppression. It's not one or the other.

it's so crazy how "white privilege means that white queers are more able to come out and thus more visible" turns into the COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY RIDICULOUS statement "queer people are predominantly white". What a fucking idiot. Genuinely, how do you manage to be that dumb
1. Queer ppl are NOT "predominantly yt." There is no racial predisposition to queerness & yt ppl are ~16% of the world, so queer ppl are predominantly NOT YT. 2. The Cornell 7 are ALSO NOT ALL YT. You overshadow the important points you make when you lead w/complete bullshit.

Frankly patriarchy is not a western invention either and it’s just deeply historically illiterate to suggest that it is. Frankly I often feel like people who claim patriarchy is of exclusively western origin do so because they feel like they wouldn’t care about it otherwise.

Don’t engage in discourse that puts you in a headspace where you have to come up with reasons to minimize the oppression of others in an abstract comparison detached from reality.

A lot of relatively well-meaning cis liberal/progressive people fundamentally don't believe trans people when we tell them about our lives and our experiences. They gender us correctly and say they want to protect us merely because that's the socially acceptable position.
the crux of this argument is basically that you guys think trans people are full of bullshit when they say they would kill themselves if they couldn't transition

To be entirely clear, because this banged for some reason, I obviously strongly, strongly prefer a lukewarm ally to an indifferent or hostile person. But it would be nice if cis people could put in slightly more effort.

the problem with a lot of you is that deep down you see queerness as white people nonsense and thats why every single time a trans woman of color speaks up about her struggles she gets called a white woman and dimissed because as we all know all trans women are inherently white

transitioning is a choice in the same way drinking water, eating food, and breathing are a choice. transitioning is a choice in the same way chemo is a choice for people with cancer, the way insulin is a choice for people with diabetes, etc
Replying to @whozgrimez
The fact of the matter is that transitioning is a voluntary choice, a true right but a CHOICE none the less, whereas being black isn’t. Stop centering yourself and your struggle for two seconds to consider the reality for black ppl within your community.

Its genuinely sad how many people still think being trans is like some superficial choice people have. You can even see it in the way this is phrased, its just some frivolous fashion statement. Even people who would call themselves "allies" think trans people chose this life.
yes you can. you were not born with a binder carabiner and cuffed jeans you can take that shit off. you cannot be phenotypically queer. theres no amount of dressing or undressing that would change how black i look i dont understand what you dont understand.

The reason why Vivek Ramaswamy thinks that running that pro-rape ad is good is because he's Indian. The endless deference to an abusive family and the thinking that the attacks will work is a very uniquely culturally Indian phenomenon.

At the same time, though, Republicans would defend this if it was coming from a white politician. They're only bothering to condemn this because he's Indian.

Like this is such a SILLY conversation to have. “You can’t hide being black” “you can hide being queer” I’m sorry but who exactly is being helped here? What is the goal of this conversation if not to powerscale oppression?

Look at the way that women were talking about bisexual men earlier this year and how they talk about men giving them the “ick” for seeming weak and tell me again that there are no social consequences for men who challenge gender roles lol
