I read a quote somewhere recently: "Showcasing your proof of work like case studies on social platforms get up to 5x more profile visits from hiring managers" I believe how things are going, there is no way escaping it. You need to market yourself to get attention. However the biggest pain point I think why most of them don't do it is: Presenting your work is still tough. This is one of my personal objectives as well. I want to share and talk about the work I do (more on that soon!). And the same principle we are also applying on what we are building for our community at @uxhack_co If you are actively participating in our challenges, we have now made it easier for you to share your work. Here are some illustrations👇

Is it ok to call it Cute UX @alexandr_wang

I always find Leaderboards a good motivational lever. There is a reason why Gaming industry is huge. Apart from achieving a podium finish, it definitely gives boost to people who have improved their rankings and in general can help people gain their focus back and improve their skills. So when it came to relaunching Leaderboards for @uxhack_co in its new avatar, we knew it can't be just one view. It needs variations - Time & Event type being two main factors in our case. At UXHack, we have done 129 editions of Weekend Hackathons and the story of users who have been consistent performers needed a Home. Now it has one! As we launch new event formats and new views, this leaderboard will get more interesting :) Check it out at uxhack.co/leaderboard

Coming soon on @uxhack_co - Vibez: A GenAI hackathon to help you improve real world products via prompts. uxhack.co/vibez P.S: This video was made possible because of @claudeai and the Brag Output skill which I discovered via @shiri_shh . Thank you for building and sharing this :) How did we do ?

And we can mostly tell when AI is used. In that case if the designer hasnt fixed obv slop, there is a penalty. But we do not discourage using AI (by forcing tags). It has helped with overall creativity

Not sure abt this. Intent is great. But simply 'trusting' ppl to do it isnt good enough. Nor are AI detection tools We had this dilemma while eval designs for our hackathons. And genuinely contemplated asking ppl to do it. Eventually decided it's not worth the friction
Figma’s policy: if you use AI in your writing process, add “written with AI” at the top.

Amazes me every single time
I can vouch that this is NOT 100% human written Writing using AI, with it not seeming like AI slop is now a.... Skill? Same with design

I get it, everyone wants to ride the AI wave. But I strongly believe the chat interface is not the default for all types of products. In some verticals, it fits in naturally, like Travel, Advisory, Analytics or any use case where exploration/recommendations are a primary use case. However, I was taken aback when I logged in to our @Razorpay dashboard yesterday, and they defaulted it to the screen shown below (have changed real data to dummy one for obvious reasons). I am not sure what purpose it serves to give this interface a priority. There are more intelligent ways how AI can be woven in. For example, I would be interested in whether AI can give me recommendations on what payment type or offer we can prioritize based on historical transactions. Thoughts? This is also our current WH challenge that went live last night - uxhack.co/weekend

The goal to catch the obvious design & UX gaps Before submission, rather than judge taste and creativity

Experimenting with something new for our Weekend Hackathons: Baseline It’s a simple idea: BEFORE you submit your design, Baseline evaluates it against: - An existing screen/product - an AI-generated 'baseline' solution

Replying to @figma
@figma has tried to become an AI product, but can’t say it has worked (not necessarily a bad thing) This new Canvas use case might just be what designers need: subtle, contextual help vs ‘Make a generic looking LP’ Excited to see how this develops. For now only early beta

Text prompts are a pain. What @GoogleDeepMind recently showcased could change that and change something that has been the same for decades: our cursor We cover this as part of this week's newsletter uxhack.substack.com/p/ai-poi…

I think fundamentally you need to be a generalist now. You should be able to learn, solve and execute from the first principles lens. My personal experience: Have rolled out production grade @nextjs projects using AI for clients and for @uxhack_co A year ago, if you would have asked me this, I would have laughed :) Though since I know how to ship full stack apps, with AI, language doesn't matter much now.

A huge thanks to @uxhack_co for organizing this event. It was a great exercise in designing for clarity.

Can @Zoho crack consumer apps? @Arattai (WhatsApp alternative) + @UlaaBrowser (won govt challenge) - they're pushing hard into consumer territory. But can an enterprise giant beat Meta & Google? Arattai vs WhatsApp - the network effect problem: - Messaging apps live or die by network effects. Your app's value = how many people use it on daily basis. Even Google failed with Allo. Being "indigenous" isn't enough to make people stick around. Ulaa browser - here's where they have a real shot: Browsers are different. No network effects needed. I personally keep switching (on Brave now). Browser wars are heating up anyway - Perplexity's Comet, ARC, all trying new things. The difference? Consumer UX needs to be DELIGHTFUL, not just functional. At @uxhack_co , we've taken Ulaa's new tab screen for Weekend Hackathon #85 to see what our community can do with it. I think if Zoho nails the experience - faster, prettier, more innovative than Chrome - they've got a shot. Our community is redesigning this first touchpoint. Deadline: Monday, 10AM IST What do you think, is the browser war still winnable for newcomers? 👇 #UXDesign #Ulaa #BrowserWars

Apple's website is surprisingly confusing when it comes to its purchase pages Surprising because the product listing pages and Apple's site in general are beautiful: at times a benchmark that one looks upto for new ideas Feels like two very different teams have designed them

What to show vs how to show it For a designer, it is just as important to understand the business, as it is to have design skills In this case study video on Niva Bupa, have tried to explain this aspect in relation to health insurance youtube.com/watch?v=lAW23axJ…
