“A purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash would allow online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution.”

The US midterm results could have a big impact on many parts of the world, and crypto is no exception. So, crypto holders, go vote, follow the results,... and enjoy your coffee. ☕
Mid 2024: “Over 60 million Engaged Pioneers.”
November 2026: “Over 60 million Engaged Pioneers.”
More than two years have passed, and the headline number has not moved.
If the project is growing, the number should grow with it. If it is not growing, the community deserves to know why. Either way, a figure that stays frozen for this long raises a fair question, and it has gone unanswered for far too long.
Silence is not a strategy. When a team asks millions of people for trust, time and effort, clear communication is not a favor. It is a responsibility.
But this is not only about the Core Team. Pi stopped being one team’s project a long time ago.
It belongs to every Pioneer who mined, verified, built, shared and waited.
That gives us the right to ask hard questions, and the duty to keep asking them.

Fiat is still strong today because the system behind it is so well built, so deeply established, and has lasted for so long.
But look at what’s happening around the world across key areas, and you can see a new financial system taking shape. It isn’t falling from the sky. It comes from real needs today and real ambitions for tomorrow.
That moment will come. Fiat may not disappear, but it could gradually make way for a better player.
Who’s your pick?
Should I know you?
But you should know I...
I'm moving so close to the new era of finance.

Just a reminder of what Pi Network has had over its nearly 8-year journey, and the 7-year journeys of other big names.
(2009): By 2016 it traded on exchanges worldwide, thousands of merchants accepted it, and it had survived its first major crises. Today it is a globally recognized asset held by funds, public companies and ETFs.
Apple (1976): By 1983 it had sold the Apple II in huge numbers, gone public and joined the Fortune 500. Today it is one of the most valuable companies on Earth.
iPhone (2007): By 2014 hundreds of millions of units were sold and the App Store had reshaped how the world uses software. Today billions of iPhones have shipped.
Google (1998): By 2005 it dominated search, had gone public, and was shipping Gmail and Maps. Today it runs the world’s default search engine and Android.
Facebook (2004): By 2011 it had roughly 800 million users and billions in revenue. Today it reaches over 3 billion people monthly.
YouTube (2005): By 2012 it was approaching a billion monthly viewers. Today it is the world’s largest video platform.
Ethereum (2015): By 2022 it hosted DeFi, NFTs and most stablecoins, and completed the Merge. Today it underpins a large part of on-chain finance.
Amazon (1994): By 2001 it had billions in annual revenue and its first profitable quarter. Today it runs AWS and a global logistics network.
OpenAI (2015): By late 2022 ChatGPT reached 100 million users in about two months. Today its tools are part of daily work for millions.
Anthropic (2021): Not yet seven years old, but within roughly two years of founding it shipped Claude, and today developers and businesses worldwide use it.
NVIDIA (1993): By 2000 it had gone public and shipped the first GPU. Today its chips power the AI boom, and it is among the largest companies in the world.
Solana (2020): Just over six years in, it ranks among the most active blockchains, with real trading, payments and apps.
Tesla (2003): By 2010 it was selling the Roadster, had gone public and bought the Fremont plant. Today it sells well over a million cars a year.
SpaceX (2002): By 2009 it had reached orbit and won a major NASA contract. Today it is the leading launch provider, with reusable rockets and crewed missions.
Starlink (2015): By 2022 it had over a million subscribers. Today it serves millions across well over a hundred markets.
PayPal (1998): By 2005 it was the payment rail for eBay and held tens of millions of accounts. Today it serves hundreds of millions.
XRP (2012): By 2019 it had live payment pilots with real financial institutions. Today it remains a top-ranked crypto asset.
Some of these came faster than others, and not every one was a smooth ride. But each had something people could use, pay with, watch, ride, or build on, long before the Summit stage.
After nearly 8 years, Pi’s price on exchanges hovers around $0.07, the ecosystem has not a single app with practical real-world use, and a Pi Ecosystem is about to launch. Truly impressive.

18 Years Ago Today, a Nine-Page Paper Changed Money
On October 31, 2008, an anonymous figure calling himself Satoshi Nakamoto sent an email to a cryptography mailing list.
The message was simple: a new electronic cash system, fully peer-to-peer, with no trusted third party. Attached was a nine-page whitepaper.
Today marks 18 years since that moment.
The road before the paper
Satoshi did not appear from nowhere. The idea stood on decades of work by cypherpunks and cryptographers.
David Chaum explored digital cash, Adam Back built Hashcash, and Wei Dai and Nick Szabo proposed b-money and bit gold. Each solved a piece of the puzzle, but none solved the whole thing.
Satoshi’s breakthrough was combining these pieces into one system. Proof of work, a public ledger, and network consensus could finally solve double spending without a bank or a middleman.
The timing mattered too. The global financial system was in crisis, and trust in institutions was at a low point.
What came next
On January 3, 2009, the genesis block was mined, carrying a newspaper headline about bank bailouts. Days later, Satoshi sent the first Bitcoin transaction to cypherpunk Hal Finney.
In 2010, a programmer paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas, one of the first times Bitcoin was used for something real. By 2011, Satoshi had stepped away and left the project in the hands of the community. His identity is still unknown today.
That might be the most important design choice of all. Bitcoin has no founder to answer to, no CEO, and no headquarters.
Why it matters today
Eighteen years later, the impact is hard to ignore:
Bitcoin has a fixed supply of 21 million coins, enforced by code instead of policy.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs launched in the US in January 2024, bringing it into traditional finance.
El Salvador made Bitcoin legal tender in 2021, the first country to do so.
An entire industry of builders, miners, and long-term holders now exists around an idea that began as one email.
Bitcoin also opened the door for the wider crypto world, from smart contracts to decentralized finance and new communities building outside the old system.
Whether you see it as digital gold, a hedge, or a new financial layer, one thing is clear. A small group of readers saw that email in 2008, and the world has never been the same.
Happy 18th anniversary to the Bitcoin whitepaper. 🎃
