This bill has overwhelming support from the New York Senate and Assembly as well as the people of New York. The people of New York have spoken and spoken loudly. Too many pharmacies have been forced to close. Governor Kathy Hochul please sign this bill into law sooner than later.
Republicans may destroy pharmacies across New York due to misinformation from PBMs and insurance companies. Do they not understand what’s going on here. The American people know and are fed up with the lies.
Replying to @SteveMooreRx
Want to remind everyone we didn’t pass this bill last year (or the year before) and costs still went up. It’s almost like pharmacy costs aren’t what’s driving overall spending up…

Big thank you to Senate Sponsor @JamesSkoufis for taking on PBM profiteering in the commercial market!
As independents go out of business due to NYSHIP reimbursements, CVS is making millions off the state of NY. Check your “Transparent model” New York. You’re overpaying the middleman and closing access to pharmacies. @GovKathyHochul
CVS accused of overbilling feds $600M in scheme. Very troubling findings. The same or more egregious findings can be expected in the commercial sector aka self-funded plans. Take a look at my article.

340b need more oversight. Money was never meant to be do profit. Was supposed to go to under insured or no patients not insured.

New post:
Prescription drugs are a large and rapidly growing source of revenue for some of NY's largest hospitals - largely due to the federal 340B discount program.
Tax filings from Mount Sinai, NYU Langone, NY Presbyterian and LIJ each show nine-figure pharmacy sales in 2024
Every state should pass a law to require pharmacies be paid fairly to keep the doors open. And when PBMs say it’s going to raise premiums, tell them to take it from the money they are stealing. @nysdacc
Express Scripts Got Sued for Racketeering. Here’s What That Means
Plaintiffs say a shadowy offshore entity helped Cigna and its PBM quietly siphon money meant for employers, unions and patients

CVS are thieves. They are ripping off NYS NYSHIP plan and underpaying pharmacies to the point they are closing. Budget has money for NYSHIP but governor plans on giving to cvs instead of pharmacies. Will she be the reason for more closures? Save local pharmacies @GovKathyHochul
If PAPA doesn’t pass in NYS more pharmacies will close. Right now it’s in assemblyman Heastie and governors hands. Will they be the blame for more pharmacies closing across New York, or will they do the right thing and pass it. @NYSA_Majority @GovKathyHochul
NYS pays pharmacies below cost on NYSHIP while cvs is raking in the dollars. Pay pharmacies the Medicaid rate for NYSHIP. The money is in your budget. Don’t give it to cvs for more profits @GovKathyHochul @NY_Pharmacists

CVS in Tennessee: If you make us choose between our PBM and our patients, we'll close our stores.
Also CVS in Tennessee: Reform threatens patient access!
Pssst. Hey CVS: You're the one threatening patient access.

New York PAPA bill needs to be passed now, so it takes effect on Jan 2027. It passed the senate, has over 110 cosponsors in assembly. Unheard of on a bill like this. Don’t hold this bill up! Don’t be the reason for more pharmacy closures @CarlHeastieNY @FixRxorg @NY_Pharmacists

The HHS Medicaid Provider Spending dataset just went public for the first time.
I pulled every organization in the country that bills under code T1019, Personal Care Services.
That’s bathing, dressing, meal prep for Medicaid beneficiaries. Non-medical. Delivered by home health aides.
The national spend on this single code from 2018 to 2024: $122.7 billion.
98 entities collected 42.5% of it. Nine of them each crossed a billion dollars.
Seven are in Brooklyn.
Some share the same block.
Some share the same authorized official. Some share the same address four doors apart.
Physicians face prior authorization, peer review, board certification, malpractice exposure, and utilization review to practice medicine.
These entities operate under the lightest regulatory classification in healthcare while processing exponentially more dollars.
The oversight infrastructure for the largest Medicaid spending category is either absent or non-functional.
The data is now public.
Part 1 of the investigation is out at 4pm EST.

With the Pharmacists Fight Back Act, which was reintroduced yesterday, and the other proposals introduced in Congress, "legislators have many options at their disposal to check the PBMs — and no reason to delay," says NCPA CEO @RPhDouglas. "We are continuing to push hard, along with our allies, for Congress to finalize PBM reform legislation and send it to the president’s desk as soon as possible." bit.ly/48AEICP

From small pharmacy .
We lost a patient to a $0 copay today.
They left our pharmacy because we charged $17.92 for their medication — a drug that costs us $7 to buy. They found it “free” at Giant Eagle, Inc. , with a $0 copay. When we transferred the prescription, we asked the other pharmacist what they billed insurance. They said they billed $10,000 and were paid around $8,000.
Let that sink in:
The same drug.
The same bottle.
But one pharmacy gets paid $8,000, while we charge $17.92 — and somehow we’re the ones who lose the patient.
This wasn’t a private insurance plan — this was Medicare/Medicaid money.
So taxpayers just spent thousands for something worth seven bucks.
Who’s at fault here?
👉CMS for allowing anyone to get away with this
👉 The PBM, for allowing $8,000 of taxpayer dollars to be wasted on a $7 drug?
👉 Or the pharmacy (Giant Eagle, Inc.), for billing our government $10,000 for a $7 drug?
Regardless-feels like Medicare Fraud to me
