for everyone piling on to this post after the railway incident: remember that heroku had a roughly equivalent security incident in april 2022, pre-agentic coding, where a number of user environments were exfiltrated (github repos and oauth tokens, in this case, not prod runtimes, but similar impact). I don't think there's much you can extrapolate from this post unless there's a very direct RCA which says otherwise and pins the cause directly on agentic coding habits.
these platforms are fundamentally honeypots and are going to be targeted, and securing untrusted user code from deployment -> production is brutal.
these incidents obviously shouldn't happen, but it has more to do with the practices / priorities of the team than whether or not they use AI to code.

We've decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026.
That's not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community.
Our priority is to deliver best-in-class security for our members. Keeping a browser secure takes constant, dedicated work that is only increasing in the age of AI. Dia was built from the ground up to meet today’s security standards, so that's where our engineering and security teams will focus moving forward.
We've worked to make switching to @diabrowser as easy as possible for Arc members. Here's how:
· Your passwords, bookmarks, extensions and history come over to Dia seamlessly.
· Spaces, Folders, and Tab Groups are in Dia and import over with your data intact.
· Dia now surpasses Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security.
· The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and the AI is optional.
Thank you for using Arc, for pushing us to make it better, and for building alongside us. The team that made Arc is the same team behind Dia, and some of our most ambitious work is just ahead. We'd love for you to be there with us when it lands.

We just raised a $60M Series B at a $1B valuation to build @daytonaio into the Agent Cloud.
@FirstMarkCap led the round, with all key existing investors and angels doubling down.
We're also thrilled to welcome the founders of some generational companies aboard, including @patrickc (Stripe), @tobi (Shopify), @AravSrinivas (Perplexity), @BrendanFoody (Mercor), @oliveur (Datadog), @adamdangelo (Quora) and @ericsyuan (Zoom)
We're a 35-person team. But that's about to change; we're hiring across the board, and we'd love for you to join us.
This has genuinely been so helpful.

This happened with me while using Instinct.
I asked instinct about something and to figure out, it emailed one of the police department in Illinois and the words were like “I want you to put in writing“ about all these details. 😵💫
Today, @ChatGPT dots really fucked up bad!
I asked it to write me questions on what to ask the owner of a store I was looking to lease.
dot decided to email the city, city planner, zoning inspectors asking questions itself! This may have caused the deal to fall through 😡🤬
My girl and I are furiated!
I entered the same exact prompt into:
@bot
@CueAgents
@AskPerplexity
@Muse
& neither of them even considered emailing without my approval! wtf is this? @OpenAI
My girl is so pissed bro, like wtf man, I’m not even sure how to fix this - we’ve been working on this deal for 3 months bro 🤦🏻♂️
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
OP's prompt instructed the Dot to get a written zoning determination from Torrington Land Use. The Dot emailed city officials accordingly. OP later acknowledged: "Ugh, I see that now but that’s not what I meant at all."
