Yesterday, I shared a simple story about my fumigation man, nothing fancy, just something that touched me. I didn’t expect what came after.
Not long after I tweeted it, two different people slid into my DM asking for his contact. I was honestly surprised. From just one post, doors were already opening for him.
I even screenshotted the tweet and posted it on my WhatsApp status. That’s where it got even more interesting. Someone reached out and asked if I could speak to him, he needed fumigation for his 4-flat apartment in Lugbe by Friday.
I called the man and explained everything. He quoted ₦100k for the whole job. As usual, I tried to help negotiate small, so I asked for his last price. He said ₦70k.
When I went back to the client with the price, he shocked me. He said, “That’s actually cheap, I’ll just pay him ₦100k.”
At that moment, I just smiled. See how God works.
The same man some people were calling names yesterday is now getting jobs and even being paid more than he asked for.
Truly, God is good. Sometimes, all it takes is one honest story for someone’s light to shine.
Hmmm
I found a direct competitor to my SaaS today.
Recently launched but already serving some of the biggest companies in the world.
They seemed so far ahead...
At first I was excited.
If they could grow so quickly with an offering that's almost 1:1 then that's instant validation.
All I needed to do was reverse-engineer their growth by talking to their customers...
So I googled the people who left them testimonials.
None of them exist.
And none of their company logos are using their product in the wild.
Guess they're not as far ahead as I thought 😆
"Never see a complaint as an attack, see it as a gift. The truth is a complaining customer still cares enough to speak up instead of walking away."
That's it. Take feedback constructively.
Many years ago, a customer walked into our Lekki outlet, visibly very upset. She had ordered a smoothie and angrily complained that she could taste banana in it. The problem? That particular product wasn’t supposed to contain any banana at all.
My team replied, saying there was no way banana could have found its way into that drink. We are very strict about following our standard recipes, but the customer insisted. She demanded a refund and said she would never come back. Then she added that she was actually allergic to bananas and was having reactions already. Allergic to bananas? That was a new one for us.
My team collected the drink, tasted it, and held their ground. We can't taste any banana, ma, and it was simply impossible. We would never add an ingredient that wasn’t listed. But the customer remained firm, insisting she could taste it and was reacting to it. She left the store angrily, never to return.
At that point, they reached out to me. I told them to call her, apologize sincerely for how she was feeling, and deliver a fresh drink right away. Then I spoke to her myself, apologise and reassured her that we would investigate, and promised to find out what really happened and her next smoothie order would also be free.
So, I immediately asked the QA Manager to dig deeper. If the customer insists, I told the team, we owe it to her and to ourselves to find out why. The investigation revealed something we had completely missed: the person who made the smoothie had used the same knife to cut banana for another product few minutes earlier, then used that same knife to cut the fruits for her smoothie. Woah!! The smallest of cross-contamination. A tiny action, but for someone highly sensitive to banana, it was enough to trigger a reaction.
That single complaint led us to introduce major changes in our production process. It changed how we handled tools, tightened our production and hygiene standards, and reinforced a stronger culture of listening.
The best customers aren’t always the happy, smiling ones who never complain. Sometimes, the best customers are the ones who challenge you, who point out what’s wrong, even when it’s uncomfortable to hear.
Never see a complaint as an attack, see it as a gift. The truth is a complaining customer still cares enough to speak up instead of walking away. And if you listen, investigate, and act, you don’t just fix a problem, you make your business better for everyone.
So, the next time a customer comes back to complain, don’t dismiss it. Lean in, listen, and learn. That’s where real growth begins.
Of course, you guessed right, she remained a very loyal customer.

Once I resume back GoldenXpress Logistics, everyone will declare what’s inside their package. Value declaration also, cakes, foods will be categorized on fragile order and it will be delivered separately and based on appointments. No one will package behind my rider.
I saw this tweet and I and the lady have been talking.
Her husband was a delivery man and he lost a delivery which had gold wrapped inside worth 2 million naira and was later arrested by police.
I spoke with the ‘IPO’ who confirmed that her husband was arrested and they had paid 900k out of 2 million naira. IPO also invited me to visit their elebu station for any other verifications.
Based on this, I’ve concluded to facilitate a meeting between the lady and her husband plus the gold woman at the elebu police station to get the correct and verified details.
If confirmed, we can now strive to raise money and such money will be raised by a 3rd party who will remit same directly to the gold woman.
I also thank my brother @Adamthallith for averting my mind to this.
Anyone currently in Ibadan who can join us can also DM me please. Thank you.
- should deliverymen know/ascertain what is to be delivered? What treats do this pose?
- if they knew, should they charge according to the risk of the items?

Yes, service charge is in your tenancy/estate agreement, BUT under the FCCPA 2018, it must be fair, transparent & justifiable. You can:
✅ Ask for a full breakdown
✅ Demand accountability on spending
✅ Question unjustified increases
Sometimes they change, most times they don't.
So bad.

The case Patrick Chukwuma v. Peace Mass Transit Ltd (Enugu High Court, 2022) involved a passenger denied refund for a canceled bus trip due to the company's "no refund" policy. The court ruled it illegal, null, and void under FCCPA 2018.
Key sections:
- S.104: Supremacy of FCCPA over conflicting laws.
- S.120: Right to cancel advance bookings/reservations with full refund (minus reasonable charges).
- S.129: Prohibits unfair, unreasonable, or unjust contract terms.
Court awarded N1,500 refund + N500,000 damages.
