Hi, non-Brazilian u-toos! 🌐 We know you're here because of our shared love for underscores. But we're also a Brazilian fanbase, and right now our country is going through a critical political moment that we believe deserves attention beyond our borders. The far right has gained significant political power in Brazil, as similar movements have around the world. And what happens here does not stay here. Brazil has more than 200 million people, is the largest country in Latin America and one of the world's major agricultural powers. Most of the Amazon rainforest is also within our territory, an ecosystem essential to biodiversity and climate regulation. Political, economic and environmental decisions made in Brazil can have consequences far beyond Brazilians. But this isn't only about asking the world to look at Brazil. It's also about reminding ourselves to look beyond our own borders. From Palestine to Iran, Cuba to Venezuela and so many other places, people are living through very different political and humanitarian crises, but all of them remind us of something important: what happens to people somewhere else should never become irrelevant simply because it isn't happening to us. Countries don't exist in isolation. Governments influence one another, political movements cross borders, conflicts destabilize entire regions, and attacks on democracy and human rights can inspire or empower similar movements elsewhere. Our futures are more connected than we often realize. That matters especially to a community like ours. We are a fanbase dedicated to a trans artist, and we celebrate the freedom to be queer, make weird art, make loud music, love whoever you want and exist without having your identity turned into a political battleground. Those freedoms should matter whether the person fighting for them lives in Brazil, the United States or anywhere else. So when you see us posting about Brazil, pay attention. Read, learn, share information and listen to Brazilian voices, just as we should be willing to listen when people elsewhere ask the world to pay attention to them. Solidarity cannot only exist when a crisis reaches our own country. Today, we're asking you to look at Brazil. But we should all be looking at each other.
