Finally started work on a project I have wanted to do for years. I'm reverse engineering + modifying a Big Buck Hunter cabinet (hunting game from 2000), working towards a nonviolent simulation of wildlife with infinitely generating landscapes, using only the original game assets.

finally have a studio set up and am working in it. it's in West Virginia, in an old grave store where headstones were carved/sold (the frescoes are from when it was in business). I'm working a lot on Big Buck Hunter: Restoration again (I had to take a break to graduate school)

I'm getting more into the hardware side of arcade machines and starting to learn how to repair CRTs- I really want to learn more about woodworking and make video sculpture/furniture with CRTs. I'm still practicing making icons, and I started writing software for the Playstation 1

My first solo show is opening at @avant_galerie this upcoming Friday, the 24th. It includes a range of work from 2021-2024 (landscapes, L-system pieces on e-ink, tapestry), but will have a special focus on Big Buck Hunter: Restoration and Counter-Strike: Afterstory.

Big Buck Hunter: Restoration is nearing completion. All the landscapes here are procedurally generated after the game's 'midwest' levels as a reference. The cabinet continually generates new landscapes and follows a 3 day (autumn/winter/spring) cycle.

I've been trying to use a language generation model (GPT-2) to make sketches. The process is heavily inspired by Sol LeWitt's - I use GPT-2 to generate a set of rules describing a drawing; then based on to my interpretation of those rules; I make a processing sketch.

all of these landscapes are procedurally generated following the rules present in the layout of the 'northeast' area of the original Big Buck Hunter game. The cabinet will continually generate new landscapes forever while going through a day/night cycle. #BigBuckHunterRestoration
