1. A far-right website that LAUNCHED 36 DAYS AGO is already more popular on Facebook than the Washington Post
The DC Enquirer has executed an audacious scheme to manipulate Facebook's algorithm and ad platform
And @Meta is letting them get away with it

Once more in the interest of circulating good information - some good journalists on scene in Ukraine and some other knowledgeable observers.
Here’s a partial list of reporters on the ground and others who know what they’re talking about. teapawt.net/i/lists/14943272963830…

@drandrewb and I wrote this piece in early October. Perhaps even more relevant today. thestar.com/opinion/contribu…

🧵I wrote this in two bleary-eyed nights, on my busiest teaching days, while navigating life in a pandemic/occupation.
Why? Because a sophisticated, militia-like group has taken over the center of #Ottawa. And that matters.

Americans always view Canada as a foil for their own country. On the left we are a multi-cultural paradise with health care. On the right, we are a socialist hell-scape. When Americans talk about Canada, they are really talking about their own politics and to their own audiences.
Hear me out, Ontario (and other milk-bag jurisdictions): Neapolitan milk bags. Plain, chocolate and strawberry.

The most concerning pandemic signal in the world right now is Denmark's post-reopening COVID-19 death rate.
The fact Denmark has been able to keep testing, and we have not, means it's hard to know for sure if this is a message from the future.
But it's definitely a red flag.

I think it’s been more stressful watching these extremists act out in Canada, then it has been during the entire 2 years of the pandemic.
There is no going back. That's true of world-changing disasters, and it's true in our daily lives.
If you put down salt on ice, you've learned to "live with ice" while it's a threat. When it's not icy, no salt is required.
It's still quite icy, and we still need salt.
Counter-protest in Ottawa:
You know that picture that shows what 60 people on foot, on bikes, in a bus, and in cars looks like?
Dear Canada: imagine these people in pickup trucks. How much space it would fill. How much aggressiveness and noise it could produce.
I've never been so angry and so demoralized. Pleased with @TorontoPolice, but absolutely baffled by others. I understand this is incredibly difficult, but getting the sense that police don't have instructions for different eventualities, aren't nimble.
White supremacists are taking over Ontario while Doug Ford does nothing at all to be seen to act against them.
This is a security crisis, the province is squarely responsible for ending this, and is every hour of every day choosing not to in case it 'looks bad'.
It looks bad.
Many Conservative members of the HoC want the PM meet with these people, yet can't seem to name an actual leader (because they would have to give the name of a known white supremacist).
Meanwhile, the Ontario provincial leader with actual influence is strategically absent.

This is the most government thing ever to government. Queen's Park sends 1500 person years to bail out the Ottawa police.
