The Gujarat High Court has struck down the state government's ban on the sale and storage of non-vegetarian food within 500 metres of the Somnath Temple and other designated religious areas.
The court rejected the government's plea for a stay, observing that the livelihoods of restaurant owners were at stake.
The restrictions had been challenged by owners of six non-vegetarian restaurants.

A woman driving a BMW car hit a scooty, a bike and a car in Juhu, Mumbai and was fleeing the scene.
A traffic police officer saw this and tried to stop her, but she kept driving and even tried to run him over.
People standing nearby stopped her and opened her car doors.
But instead of accepting her mistake, she started blaming the police and people around her, recording them and saying, “This is how they harass us.” 😳

In a significant breakthrough, the Kharadi police have arrested two individuals from Bihar in connection with the tragic suicide of 22-year-old Shikhar Saxena, an Accenture software engineer who plunged to his death from the 27th floor of a Magarpatta high-rise. Police investigations and WhatsApp chats recovered from his laptop revealed that cyber extortionists using fake social media accounts coerced him into paying ₹1.77 lakh by threatening to falsely implicate him in narcotics and women-related cases. Expressing anguish, his father Kumar Gaurav Saxena termed the death "nothing short of murder," stating that unrelenting psychological pressure drove the NIT Hamirpur graduate to end his life within months of starting his corporate career. Police confirmed that a manhunt is underway to nab two to three additional suspects involved in the extortion racket.
