The very welcome @DarioAmodei post calling for an AI slowdown touches on some of the concepts I referred to a couple of days ago.
"Recursive self improvement" is perhaps the AI capability we need to be the most careful about, because it could lead to a superintelligence explosion.
If that happens without "alignment", it is an existential threat.
And it is tough to judge "alignment" without interpretability - ie the ability to monitor what the AI is thinking.
He has clearly identified the problem. Now let's hope @openai and @GoogleDeepMind join him in pushing for a solution.
For more on these concepts do watch this. 👇

Pavements. It comes back to pavements and garbage.
Simple problem to fix - and suddenly Indian cities will stop looking so bad at the ground level.
You can add traffic and air pollution to the wish list of problems to fix, but that may take time.
Pavements can literally be fixed in a few months.
Ethiopia capital, in a country with a GDP per capita of just $1,000, fun fact. Almost 50% of its population lacks access to electricity, and its HDI is worse than Bihar’s, yet its capital still mogs our Tier-1 cities. 😭😭
Our cities are our PR to the world, and we’re doing almost nothing to fix them.
Ethiopia’s capital PR > India PR.

You can make only one guess for this- which is the emerging market in the world where foreign investors are most( absolute number 1) overweight?
Hint: It's country's ETF is currently down 27 pct in thin trading in NYC.
El-Sayed: In my Neurology unit, I would have to give that MOCA exam, that cognitive test he's so proud of… The only people you give that test to are people who you worry may have cognitive deficits. By definition, if you’re taking one of those tests, something is wrong.
And you know the doctor who gave it to him was like, I just want to see how smart you are, sir. And he's like, me too.
He brags about having taken it. He's like I remembered the rhinoceros. You're like Habibi, everybody remember the rhinoceros.
And the funny thing about it is, you know, he's taken it multiple times. So he's not even bragging about the first time he took it. He's like, I took it the 1st time and then I took it the 2nd time. So with Donald Trump, you can't blame him for this, he's just dumb.
But for Mike Rogers, can you imagine how small of a human being you have to be to know that he has real deficits and to just nod your head approvingly at the most ridiculous shit that the man proposes?
WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE
President Trump escalated his invective against Norway, calling it a ‘shit house country’ and saying Norwegian immigrants are not welcome in the United States because the Nobel committee, based in the capital Oslo, has not awarded him a Peace Prize reut.rs/3U1joSt

Chinese psy-ops are now being run at industrial on X. The ‘message’ is always the same…
Either that India “can’t” defend its territory, or that even if it does, it is “too expensive,” or “not worth it”…
Mostly crafted with very smart AI use…often with ‘Indian’ names too…
Interesting also how clips of old Ladakh/Sikkim clashes are being re-packaged as if there are current/recent from Arunachal…
Sophisticated or crude, is a matter of how you look at it. But persistent and deliberate for sure…
This anonymous (likely CCP-linked) pro-China Singapore-based account named @Ignis_Rex has been running rather sub-standard school level PsyOps. Issues a steady stream of AI-written long-form post designed to ‘influence’ and ‘convince’ Indians that their strategic position is hopeless, that India’s alliances are fake, and PM Modi-led leadership is failing.
This account has a pattern: it takes utterly routine events and packages them as an imminent multi-front collapse that ‘India cannot survive’ whilst positioning China as an unavoidable centre of gravity. The rest of this account’s timeline defends Chinese positions (however ludicrous), mocks Western coverage of Xinjiang/HK, and frames India as an overstretched pretender.
This “Delhi’s four-front nightmare” dollop is just the latest farce issued by this account - meant for pure entertainment purposes as otherwise it lacks serious intellectual rigour, cognitive command, and geopolitical astuteness needed for serious PsyOps warfare - clearly this isn’t China’s forte!

I’ve said it a hundred times - the biggest reason why Indian cities look so bad at ground level is an absence of proper pavements.
*It causes air pollution
*It prevents pedestrian movement
*It encourages littering
*It ruins the country’s image.
Why can’t we build and maintain proper pavements?
Why can’t we fix the problem across the nation in mission mode?

Finishing is a weak point of Indian infrastructure. The causes include a combination of untrained blue-collar biomass, thekedars looking to cut costs everywhere and a general Indian trait of not clearing surroundings after work.

Force all our states to spend at least 20% of their budgets on urban infrastructure schemes like CM GRID. Within 2–3 years, almost 90% of our streets could look like this!

Such a simple solution, its mind boggling that there is little interest in fixing this

Wake up.
Every profession deemed white-collar, the middle class dream, is about to be decimated by AI, at a much faster pace than anticipated, with monstrous social consequences.

A creator with 142K followers thought racial slurs and mocking a boy from #Tripura would pass off as entertainment.
After facing backlash, he apologised but continued mispronouncing the state’s name. Knowing someone doesn’t give you a free pass to humiliate them, and scripting a video doesn’t excuse #racism. Since when did racism become content?

SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

This week, I was blessed to join Hindu New Yorkers in Queens celebrating Navratri, Durga Puja, Dashain, and Vijayadashami.
We danced garba, performed aarti, witnessed Sindoor Khela, and honored the Goddess Durga.
It was an honor to come together in joy, faith, and community in temples across our city — especially after the attempted mass shooting at a Hindu temple in Illinois last week.
May we all join together in our shared responsibility to stand against hate and care for one another.
Jai Mata Ki.

How ridiculous can it get
CEOs of companies will now be arrested for incidents in any factory.
It was a tragic loss of life but this will make so many MNCs rethink India plans and expansion.
