An important reminder when discussing who benefits from bike lanes. DOT’s protected bike lanes significantly increase safety for seniors walking on NYC streets. From our study on pedestrian safety for older NYers: www1.nyc.gov/html/dot/downlo…

Pounding the pavement... with BRAND NEW recycled asphalt mixes ✨
Earlier this week on Fordham Road in the Bronx, we began testing two new innovative asphalt mixes that could both improve roadway durability and help reduce the city’s carbon footprint.
New Yorkers deserves to know when their bus is coming.
Through 'Next Stop: Fast Buses, Better Service,' we're going to double the number of bus shelters with real-time information beginning this year... with plans to more than quadruple the number of stops equipped by 2030!
There’s full retail occupancy at Union Square, sidewalks and public seating full of people in this video—I’m starting to think they might actually just love traffic.
Flatiron / Union Square looks pretty deserted.
This is what happens when streets meant for transportation are removed, people's transportation options are taken away, and neighborhoods get barricaded.

Five times as many new New York Jalens since the Knicks in five, per @haideechu @THECITYNY:
“Before the Knicks faced the Spurs in mid June, just five babies born in NYC had been named Jalen since March. Since then, 27 newborns have taken on the name.”

For decades economic development has relied on tax breaks and subsidies for the largest corporations, a trickle-down approach that too often falls short.
@NYCMayor and @NYCEDC are charting a new path.
In the first deal of its kind in NYC history, the public is investing $30 million in a quantum lab - in exchange for three board seats and 15% of the revenue generated from technology it creates.
And if any firm coming out of the lab merges, gets acquired, or IPOs, the city gets a payout.
When public dollars are invested, the public should share in the wealth and innovation those investments create.

Public investment has created private wealth for a handful of powerful oligarchs. That model has failed.
Mayor Mamdani is paving a new way: if the public invests, the people should get a cut.
Breaking News: Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration is making a $30 million investment to build a quantum research lab at New York University. In exchange, the city will receive 15% of any proceeds from intellectual property developed in that lab. nyti.ms/4jUe7GD

You shouldn't start your day stuck on Bay Parkway.
That's why we're redesigning Bay Parkway and Cropsey Avenue for the 85,000 daily bus riders on the B6, B82, X28 and X38.
New bus lanes, faster buses, and safer streets coming soon.

Happy Italian Heritage Month, New York.
Here’s continuing to fight for Vito Marcantonio’s vision of a government that works for all working people.

I am angry tonight.
Because today ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car.
ICE makes this city less safe.
We want them out. Now.

Intelligence must draw on memory. The mind must not simply compile data — as an algorithm now does more quickly than we can — but recall lived experiences, which contain depths of meaning that only the human soul can recognize, and connect more deeply with the goodness of these experiences. Everything that is good begins “with the Spirit” and thus possesses a breath, a dynamism and a sense of communion that, once experienced, are engraved upon the heart. vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…
