Cassandra Barksdale was told she had aggressive cancer. She told her kids she had five years to live. She had a full hysterectomy. Then she found out the tissue sample wasn't even hers. That is a catastrophic failure. She lost her uterus, her peace of mind, and months of her life to a preventable mistake. That is not acceptable!

People always ask me where the tan suit came from. I think it’s time the truth finally came out.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. loved America. He loved our country so much that he dedicated his life — and in the end, his life was taken — in a fight for our nation's highest ideal: Freedom.
Last week, it was my honor to visit the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis. As I stood on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel where Dr. King spent his final moments, I thought about what he would see if he looked at America now. What would he think? What would he say?
In his time and in ours, others seek to make us afraid, divided, and silent. We will not give them that satisfaction. As we honor Dr. King today, we continue the fight with determination, resilience, and joy.

D’Angelo was one of a kind. As a pioneer in neo-soul, he inspired a generation of singers, and helped shape music today. Michelle and I are thinking of his family, and all those who loved and admired him. nytimes.com/2025/10/14/arts/…

The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice. Except it doesn’t bend on its own—it bends because we pull it in the direction of justice. What keeps me hopeful during times like these is being surrounded by people who are doing just that.

In a moment like this, when tensions are high, part of the job of the president is to remind us of the ties that bind us together.
