Everyone is waiting for the Web3 game that goes mainstream... but there are a few hurdles, including that most chains cannot handle that scale.
Call of Duty saw peaks of 1.8 million games a minute. Recording match starts alone would require 30,000 TPS, far beyond the capacity of most chains.
But our chain is different. @Polkadot is built for growth. Its canary network, Kusama, broke the TPS record for live chains, reaching 128K using just a quarter of the cores. With JAM, it can reach an order of magnitude higher!

Anyone else tired of hearing @Polkadot is a ghost chain and not relevant. I personally don't know of another blockchain that could have handled over 73m transactions yesterday without any real issues. @gavofyork has built a beast, time to unlock its use!

Nodes π» in the Polkadot network have multiple tasks:
- they participate in-core (backing & data availability)
- they commit to state on-chain (inclusion of rollup data)

JAM is a protocol combining elements of both Polkadot and Ethereum. It is a prospective path to replace the Relay Chain with a more modular, minimalistic design.

#Polkadot Ideal Staking Rate increased from 51% to 59%. Stakers should expect a ~7% drop in $DOT #staking rewards (if you usually get 1 DOT, now you will get 0.93 DOT). This choice accommodates unlocked DOT from the crowdloans for leases 6-13, without aggressively decreasing staking rewards π
Assuming DOTs from crowdloans would be bonded in staking, the staking rate > ideal staking rate (51%), and rewards will experience a steep decline! π
With ideal at 59%, we would have a buffer zone to accommodate those extra DOT without impacting too much the rewards for stakers (steep decline pushed above 59%) π
