An open-source AI model launched this weekend that's on par with OpenAI's o1, their most advanced AI model. This fundamentally changes the everyting because:
a) Agents can now have sovereignty over PhD-level reasoning and self-host on decentralized cloud networks like Akash for 97% less than using OpenAI
b) Devs have full control and can make changes without permission
c) It was trained by a small lab in China without massive funding, and they shared with the world how they did it, so we can replicate it
d) We can now train such advanced models for a fraction of the cost OpenAI paid
e) We do not need to rely on the benevolence of companies like Meta for advanced open-source models where there are no guarantees the kindness will continue as the models become more advanced
Every fiber of my being is excited for decentralized AI.
