Been a while here. Been sorting a couple of things for you and I. An event that'll keep you away from the concept of our present reality and your screen
Escape From Reality is that outdoor, recreational game event. Partnered with LUC by @MiracleAgitan_

Last week, I flew to Lagos for #OCXAfrica to speak about open source, AI, and the role African developers will play in its future.
With @osca_hq and the @EclipseFdn, we explored AI agents, Theia, Enclave and ThreadX.
Security release pre-alert:
We will release new versions of Node.js 22, 24, and 26 release lines on or shortly, after 2026-11-11 in order to address security vulnerabilities.
The highest severity issue fixed in this release is HIGH.

I redesigned Chowdeck and intentionally removed some distracting elements from the interface, but some UX designers are not having it.
Let me explain something.
Most of these apps where you see “Clear Cart” sitting right in front of you, close to the checkout button, were actually designed by someone. Someone made that decision.
But design is not just about making things look beautiful. You need to understand the logic behind what you are designing.
Why should Clear Cart be competing for attention with Checkout when the reason someone opened their cart in the first place is most likely to complete an order?
I am not saying people should not be able to clear their cart. I am saying you do not need to put every action in their face.
Let me give you a recent example.
I wanted to cancel my Higgsfield subscription. When I tried to cancel, Higgsfield showed me what I would lose and offered me another option. Instead of cancelling completely, I could switch to $1 per month, still use the platform, and buy credits whenever I needed them.
Guess what I chose? The $1 plan.
Now, that is someone who understands the business they are designing for.
They understand that AI creators jump between different tools. Sometimes you want to stop paying because the credits are getting expensive, not necessarily because you no longer need the product.
Instead of losing me completely, they gave me a reason to stay.
Imagine how many people who wanted to cancel might have chosen that same option.
This is how you think about retention. Not just by designing beautiful screens, but by understanding why people behave the way they do.
The same thinking applies to the Chowdeck redesign. Every element does not deserve the same level of attention. Some actions should be easy to find without being the first thing people see.
And this guy is still proudly arguing in my LinkedIn comments about why I made Clear Cart less prominent. Potential clients are reading those comments too.
As you are learning design, please learn the logic behind it. Do not just learn how to move things around in Figma.

Coding agents still write the code. I just don’t approve it blind anymore.
Echo records what my Agent did, walks me through it, and checks if I actually understood.

If you’re a security engineer or analyst working in the banking or fintech industry, one piece of advice I’ll give you is this: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Unapologetically.
And I don’t mean documenting vulnerabilities alone. I mean documenting decisions, objections, recommendations, escalations, and every instance where management chooses to ignore a security concern you’ve raised.
If a PM or CEO, or anyone in management pressures you to complete a security assessment of a complex application within an unrealistic timeframe, put your objections in writing. Explain what can realistically be assessed within that period, what will be left untested, and the risks associated with those limitations.
An attacker has the luxury of spending weeks or months studying your application, identifying weaknesses, and figuring out how to exploit them. You cannot reasonably expect a security engineer to provide adequate assurance over the same application in two or three days simply because someone wants to meet a release deadline.
If you’ve repeatedly recommended acquiring a security solution that would improve your organization’s security posture, document those recommendations. Explain why the solution is needed, what risks it addresses, and what management decided. If the request was rejected because of budget constraints or whatever reasons, make sure that decision is recorded.
If engineering teams routinely deploy applications, APIs, or infrastructure without involving security, raise it formally. Document the instances you’ve discovered and explain the implications. You cannot protect an attack surface you don’t even know exists, and you certainly cannot be expected to identify vulnerabilities in systems nobody informed you were being deployed.
The same applies to critical…
It seems attackers have renewed their focus on Nigeria’s financial sector. I’ve personally heard about a couple of organizations that have suffered security breaches recently but have kept them under wraps. Now, I’m seeing another person’s status seemingly confirming the same trend.
Peace be unto you if you work in any of these targeted organizations. You’ll need it.

We know how ambitious this is. We also know we can’t build it alone.
We’re always looking for engineers, researchers, infrastructure builders and partners who want to help build this from the ground up.
We’re heavily bootstrapped. There’s no big budget behind us, and I won’t pretend otherwise.
But if building Africa’s own AI computing infrastructure, all the way down to the silicon, is a mission you believe is worth your time and effort, I want to hear from you.
My DMs are open.
Today we're making a commitment.
Cencori (@cencori) will build energy-efficient inference infrastructure for Africa, from the platform AI agents run on all the way down to the silicon.
Most of Africa's AI runs on computers thousands of miles away. It's expensive and slow, and the data leaves the continent. We think that has to change.
So we're building it here. Models served from African soil. Infrastructure designed to do more with less power. And over time, our own inference chips: ENX.
This is a long road, and we're starting now.

The irony of classism in Nigeria is watching wannabes look down on fellow wannabes while begging to associate with the “big” people.
You want those above you to see your potential, but all you see in those beside you is their current position.

Nobody warns vibe coders about this part.
You can ship an app in a weekend.
You can also break 6 laws in that same weekend without knowing it.
Here's what to check before you launch:
1.) Kids
If signup doesn't ask for age and a child under 13 joins, COPPA fines can reach $53K per child.
2.) Fonts
Loading Google Fonts from Google's servers sends visitor IPs to Google. A Munich court ordered a site to pay one visitor €100 for this under GDPR.
3.) Session replay
Recording what users type without consent can count as wiretapping under California's CIPA, at up to $5K per violation.
4.) Launch emails
No unsubscribe link or postal address breaks CAN-SPAM, at up to $53K per email.
5.) Subscriptions
If renewal terms aren't right next to the button, California can treat renewals as unconditional gifts you have to refund.
6.) User uploads
Without a registered DMCA agent, which costs $6, you lose safe harbor. Statutory damages can reach $150K per willfully infringed work.
None of these cost much to fix.
All of them cost a lot to ignore.
Paste this into Claude before launch:
"Check my app for: missing age gate, externally loaded fonts, session replay without consent, marketing emails without unsubscribe and address, renewal terms not beside the subscribe button and no DMCA agent. Fix what you can and list what I need to do myself."
Not legal advice. Talk to a lawyer for your situation.
