"Not partisan" he praises while making it partisan.
I didn’t know about Helen Haines before the horrendous attack on her. Violence is never the answer. Here she is talking complete sense. Not partisan. Just against corruption. @AlboMP used taxpayer money to try to end her political career after she spoke out here. Only a few weeks ago. That’s a fact. On Monday night he called her ‘a beacon of light’, a person of ‘the highest integrity’. All Albanese cares about is votes. He should resign today.

On another note, Jacqui’s comment about Pauline is spot on.

As we think best thoughts for dear Helen Haines, my thoughts go back to this… ▪️The ‘Inquiry into Health Services for the Psychiatrically Ill and Developmentally Disabled’ was the 1983 Richmond Report. ▪️It led to closure of the big institutions replacing them with struggling community-based care and underfunded regional mental health services. ▪️Deinstitutionalisation was sorely needed but the neoliberal laissez-faire number-crunchers saw it just as a way to save government costs. ▪️I saw firsthand the effects, good and bad, and was engaged in picking up the pieces of this systematic failure. ▪️So many lives were lost or wasted, families left in misery, ‘clients’ left to twist in the wind, and generations of under-treated cases of mental illness drifting, sometimes screaming, through our communities. ▪️Only when there are murders - as in Bondi Junction - or attacks on prominent individuals - Helen Haines allegedly - does attention fall onto this monstrous ongoing community disaster. 👉 If this is not good enough, we need to pay the costs to fix it. 👉 If the public coffers are bare, then we need to raise taxes. 👉 We need to make the resource companies, banks, wealthy corporations, and the 1% uber rich pay, they can afford it. Whose community is it anyway? — “I absolutely think there is more that the system can do to prevent people that are unwell causing harm.” theage.com.au/national/victo…

Had breakfast this morning with a group of friends — all of them except me in the medical profession. Three men, three women. The mix among the men was interesting: one Muslim, one as Anglo-Australian as they come, and me (Indigenous). Two of the women were also very Anglo. My wife (Australian–New York Jewish) was there as well. The conversation turned to what happened to Helen Haines yesterday. She was struck by a car outside her electorate office in Wangaratta in what the Prime Minister has described as a deliberate act. She’s in a critical condition in hospital, and counter-terrorism authorities are involved. The motive is still being investigated. The Muslim man at the table was the first to raise it, and from there the discussion developed into something the whole group agreed on: Australia has a serious problem with violence against women, and a meaningful part of the current dynamic is being driven by Pauline Hanson for short-term political gain. The shared view was clear. If we actually want to address these issues, we have to deal with root causes. One of those roots is the politics of hate and division that Hanson continues to push. It’s not the whole story, but ignoring it doesn’t help.

Zali Steggall calls out the toxic behaviour by politicians & media following the attack on Dr Helen Haines—from Pauline Hanson’s “revolting” cartoon targeting Lambie’s medical condition to the “appalling” radio shock jocks fueling their “aggression & anger” to listeners. 💯

An ABC News live blog included a 1:34 video of Dr Haines being moved from an air ambulance in Melb. Filming a seriously unwell person on a stretcher from a distance and publishing it is an intrusion into one of the most private moments a person can have. I’ve lodged a complaint.

Trump's Pentagon is planning to livestream an execution on 3 December, and Australia has no law to keep it off our screens. I just signed this petition to Albanese – it takes 10 seconds. act.getup.org.au/s/Xe14JXbn

Stand together, or fall apart. If One Nation excludes some media from press conferences, then all media should refuse to attend.
