What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work. My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.

Thank you, Ursula, for your condolences and your persistent efforts to strengthen support for Ukraine. Russia’s disdain for diplomacy and de-escalation is growing more and more evident with each of its horrific strikes against life. Ukraine must stand strong so that Russia knows it cannot achieve its military goals and finally turns to real dialogue. Ukraine Support Loan is crucial to ensuring our strength and resilience. And the sooner we start receiving the corresponding tranches for our drone production, air defense procurement, budget support, and other vital expenditures, the better our position in 2027 will be. We can build greater protection together.
Dear @ZelenskyyUa, I am heartbroken at the news of the senseless and indiscriminate attack that Russia has carried out in Dnipro. My sincere condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones, and to the people of Ukraine. Together with our allies, we must do everything in our power to mount pressure on the aggressor. This is why strengthening our support for Ukraine will be high on my agenda in Montréal. And tomorrow, @EU_Commission will put forward a proposal to allocate the remaining €45 billion of the Ukraine Support Loan for 2027 defence needs and budget support.

Thank you for your support, Maia. Every day, Russia makes the same choice – to kill. And only through joint pressure, joint action, and unity with our neighbors, all of Europe, and the entire world can we stop Russia and prevent this evil from spreading further. Ukraine is always ready to support its neighbors on security matters, and we expect our strong bilateral relations with Moldova to be exactly that – standing shoulder to shoulder for the sake of security and bringing guaranteed peace closer.
Russia is choosing escalation over peace. Today it hit a passenger train at Dnipro station, killing civilians, and struck homes in Chernihiv and Kremenchuk. Deliberate attacks on civilians are war crimes. Pressure on Russia must grow. Moldova stands with Ukraine.

I received a report – we carried out two missile strikes, destroying two Russian Su-34s and hitting an Iskander launcher. Thank you, guys, for this result! Another aspect of our anti-ballistic work is the packages of interceptors, primarily for Patriots, that our partners can provide us. They must protect lives. We now have intel about the Russians preparing new ballistic missile attacks. We need the capabilities to shoot down this Russian evil and are awaiting the decisions. Thank you to everyone who really helps us!

Thank you for your condolences following today’s brutal Russian strikes. It is indeed very important that support for those who protect lives continues as long as Russia keeps attacking our cities and communities. We are also grateful for the EU sanctions, which continue to work and grow stronger. And it is important that the new EU sanctions package target not only companies and individuals involved in weapons production, but also the schemes that provide the financial foundation for Russia’s war. All the more reason why no easing of sanctions can be allowed, as this only strengthens Russia’s belief that it can somehow achieve its aggressive objectives.
Russia’s deadly attack on the Dnipro train station is yet another brutal assault on Ukrainian civilians. It makes abundantly clear that Moscow is not interested in peace. I extend my deepest condolences to the victims and their families. At the EU-Canada Summit and the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Atlanta, I will urge partners to further strengthen our support for Ukraine and advance accountability, including through the Special Tribunal and Claims Commission. Russia must be held accountable.

Thank you, Chancellor, for your solidarity with Ukraine and your clear condemnation of Russia’s attack on Dnipro. For years, Russia has terrorised our people, deliberately putting civilian lives at risk and bringing death, destruction and suffering to Ukrainian families. The aggressor must be held accountable for all its crimes against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. This requires stronger international pressure, tougher sanctions and sustained efforts to ensure that those responsible face justice.
I strongly condemn the Russian drone attack on the train station in Dnipro, which caused many casualties. Our thoughts go out to the families of the victims, to those injured and to the people of Ukraine. This terrible act underlines the urgency of international efforts towards a just, comprehensive and lasting peace. (BK)

Thank you for your condolences, António. Today, Russia carried out cynical strikes that claimed the lives of 19 people. Another 71 people were injured, including 11 children. Dozens of those wounded are now in hospitals. Our medical professionals are providing care and doing everything they can to save lives. Once again, Russia is showing its true attitude towards de-escalation and the efforts by Ukraine, the United States, Europe, and our other partners around the world to end this war and stop the killings. Of course, support from the EU and every EU Member State is extremely important to us right now. We deeply appreciate all the assistance you are providing. We must further mobilize our joint efforts ahead of this winter to ensure that Ukraine has the necessary capabilities to defend itself against Russian missiles and drones.
Yet another cruel and devastating series of Russian strikes against civilians in Ukraine. My condolences to President @ZelenskyyUa and the people of Ukraine following Russia’s drone attack on Dnipro railway station, as well as attacks in residential neighbourhoods in Chernihiv and Kremenchuk. The EU will continue to increase the pressure on Russia and to support Ukraine until a just and lasting peace is achieved. We call on all our international partners to do the same.

Thank you for your support, Petr. It is important that the world sees and responds to these terrorist strikes. If Russia chooses to further escalate its killings, there must be a matching escalation of sanctions pressure from Europe and other global actors. And it is in our shared interests that these steps are taken swiftly.

Thank you, Emmanuel, for your condolences. Unfortunately, the death toll from the Russian strike on a commuter train in Dnipro has already risen to 14. And just a few hours ago, the Russians struck a residential neighborhood in Chernihiv with a drone and killed two girls. They were only 15 years old. In Kremenchuk, a Russian “shahed” struck an apartment building. Tragically, three people were killed. My condolences to all those who lost their loved ones. In these three attacks alone, 56 people have been reported injured, including 10 children. These are deliberate strikes against civilians, brazen in their cruelty, and the Russians are carrying them out right as the humanitarian operation in Oleshky is unfolding. Russia’s signals are clear – they want the war to continue, and everyone around the world must still work very hard to achieve major de-escalation through strong steps and appropriate pressure on the aggressor. Peace is needed – and for that to happen, Russia must end its war and terror.

A horrific Russian strike on the railway station in Dnipro. The Russians launched a drone attack on a platform where an ordinary commuter train and a scheduled passenger train were standing. Unfortunately, 13 people have been confirmed killed as of now. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Ten more people were injured. All necessary emergency services are working at the scene. Just how many terrorist strikes has Russia carried out against our people since sanctions were lifted on certain Russian oligarchs and the Russian energy sector, rather than de-escalating? This is precisely why Ukraine has always said that just and decisive action by America and Europe is needed in response to Russian escalation – sanctions against Moscow and its war machine must not be eased for as long as this Russian war continues. It is time for new, stronger sanctions steps by the EU, the United States, and the G7. I thank everyone who is ready to help in this way.

A good meeting with Prime Minister Rob Jetten @MinPres of the Netherlands. Thank you for the new military support package for Ukraine worth €500 million, which is being prepared right now – this fall. This is truly significant, especially when it comes to repelling Russian air attacks. I also thank you for the announced €1.2 billion package of non-lethal support for Ukraine. It strengthens our resilience, and the funds will go toward energy support, infrastructure recovery, the social sector, and health care. Rob and I discussed the situation in the diplomatic process in great detail. A lot is happening right now. In the context of preparations for the trilateral meeting planned in Abu Dhabi, we discussed what we can do together with our European partners to ensure that the position of all of us in Europe is really taken into account. We are also working to see all political agreements followed by tangible economic results, creating economic growth and jobs in both Ukraine and the Netherlands. Thank you, Rob!

During my meeting with King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, I spoke about the lives of our people under constant Russian attacks and our diplomatic efforts with partners to achieve peace. I thank His Majesty for his support and for the meeting. The Netherlands is one of Ukraine’s closest and most reliable partners. We value all the assistance provided. It is important that we can be confident that support for our people will continue. @koninklijkhuis

Many people didn't see that Russia was attacking our data and cyberspace over a long period of time. Then we found a way to weaken Russia's strategy, to respond to their attacks on data. We are different here. Ukraine is more technologically advanced. The Russians attacked our data centers so many times, and still we had cell service and an Internet connection. Because we are digitally decentralized and advanced. Our responses are more painful for Russia because they are more centralized. They have a different strategy. Because they have a lot of air defense assets, they are simply defending what they have. We don’t have too much air defense – we have a shortage. That is why we decentralized everything, not only data. But we always try to respond and do so only after Russian attacks against us. From an interview with The Sun. (3/3)

President Trump and I are on the same side when we speak about ending Russia’s war, but we see different instruments for achieving that goal. My philosophy is that Putin is a deeply Soviet person, both in his reality and mentality. We know it because my generation was born in the Soviet Union. When Putin is lying, we feel it. We were neighbors with the Russians for so many years. That's why I think we understand the Russians more clearly than the United States. The United States, considering global security, can discuss with the Russians different topics. But we understand the mentality of both Putin and the Russian people, their soldiers and civilians. When they are ready to do something, and when they fear Putin because they know they can be imprisoned. If they don’t go and kill Ukrainians, Putin will sanction them in his own way. Therefore, President Trump supported us on some topics, while on others we have different views. From an interview with The Sun. (1/3)

To speak honestly is one of our weapons, to be open, and to be clear. Not to play games with our partners. This is my rule of thumb. There is a lot of pressure on Ukraine at the moment, and of course I have to be louder. And I will be, because it's part of our defense strategy. We are not trying to be somebody else. If I feel that dangerous things are looming over Ukraine, I have to defend my country. And I do what I can, like our soldiers on the battlefield and people who work for Ukraine. And I, the President, have to use every format of diplomacy. From an interview with The Sun. (2/3)

This year, Ukraine’s positions on the front remain stronger than they have been in a long time during this war. If our partners’ support for Ukraine remained just as strong – particularly when it comes to Patriots and other air defense capabilities – Ukraine would be in a much better position diplomatically as well. Just now, in October alone – since October 14 – there have already been several Russian ballistic missile attacks. Essentially, in two weeks, more than 100 ballistic missiles have been launched against Kyiv and the region. Unfortunately, there are significant restrictions on supplies, with air defense packages being delayed. I want to thank all our partners who provide their support on time.

Thousands of Ukrainians wrote the National Unity Radio Dictation today. People from all corners of Ukraine, of different ages, with entirely different professions and views. And all of this together is much more than a flash mob or a campaign. It is really about a very important ability of our language. Ukrainian brings people together. No matter how hard the enemy tries to erase this language, it is alive, it is strong, and it is thriving. It brings our people together, just as it did in the past and continues to do today. And we must do everything to make sure it stays that way in the future. Today, the Ukrainian language is much more than a means of communication. It is the language of courage, the language of dignity, the language of the fight for life that Ukrainians wage every day. I thank everyone who protects and preserves what is Ukrainian – within themselves, in their children, and in our shared future! Happy Ukrainian Writing and Language Day!

I accepted the letters of credence from the newly appointed ambassadors of Canada, Spain, Switzerland, Egypt, and Türkiye to Ukraine. Different countries and different relations, but each is important to Ukraine. We value the diplomatic presence in Kyiv, alongside our people. Last night, the ambassadors experienced Russian ballistic missile strikes, saw the destruction, and indubitably understand how much Ukraine needs help in protecting lives. Supplies and the strengthening of our air defense – from Patriots to HAWKs – all of this matters every single day. We discussed our efforts to achieve peace and Ukraine’s European integration. We also talked about Russia’s blockade of the Black Sea and the food crisis it is already causing in countries that rely on Ukrainian grain. And of course, we discussed current bilateral issues with all the ambassadors. Thank you for supporting Ukraine.

I met with the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Juozas Olekas. I thanked the Lithuanian people for their unwavering, strong, and consistent support for Ukraine. We discussed in detail our European integration and the priorities of Lithuania’s presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2027. It is very important that the remaining two negotiating clusters for Ukraine be opened by the end of this year, so that during Lithuania’s presidency we can already begin closing negotiating chapters. I briefed the Speaker on the meetings in Oslo and the overall situation in the negotiation process. We expect the trilateral meeting of the American, Ukrainian, and Russian teams to take place as early as the beginning of November. I am grateful to Lithuania for supporting Ukraine.
