Mao didn't merely slander those who refused to obey him. He imprisoned, tortured, and killed them. And he wasn't much kinder to those who did obey. Tens of millions died under his rule. Calling that liberation tells us everything about your definition of freedom.
Let's be honest, the West hates Mao because he liberated Chinese people, united the country, and made it impossible to be a Western puppet. Moreover, he inspired more Asian, African, and Latin American people's anti-colonial and anti-imperialist movements. The West slanders any leader who refuses to obey them. Mao was a great strategist, revolutionist, thinker, writer and leader. Long live the great unity of the people of the world!💪

$13 billion for 2,300 homes works out to over $5.6 million per home. Pure bureaucratic waste. Get rid of this new Crown corp, cut the federal red tape, and let actual builders build and buyers buy. – at Niagara Falls, Ontario
"Build Canada Homes" is another expensive, bureaucracy filled, unnecessary Crown Corporation. $13 billion... only 2300 homes under construction. The Libertarian Party would scrap it all, cut ALL of the Federal Red tape, and make it easier for builders to build and buyers to buy. #libertarian #canada

He's clearly been suffering from cognitive decline for a long time.
Stop being polite to Coyne. He needs to get smacked around by everyone with a platform at every turn. He’s either stupid or lying and in either case is completely undeserving of any credibility or an audience of any size.

Capitalism gave you access to technology that would have been unimaginable luxuries a generation ago, at prices ordinary people can afford. And somehow you've turned that achievement into another complaint about billionaires. When your response to unprecedented opportunities is to demand that someone else provide for you, you're advertising a mentality that helps explain your predicament. No one owes you a living, and resenting those who succeed won't make you successful. At some point, you have to stop blaming others for having more and start taking responsibility for making something of yourself.
Capitalism gave us $20 cell phones, but somehow millions of people still can't afford basic necessities. Innovation means little when prosperity is concentrated in the hands of a few billionaires.

And as usual, their arguments are so compelling.
Who is completely unsurprised this is a gender studies prof at @SFU?

Capitalism requires guns for defense precisely because it's a system that protects individual rights. The right to life, liberty, and property means nothing if criminals and tyrants can violate them with impunity. Capitalism relies on persuasion and voluntary trade. Force is justified only in response to those who initiate it. Your argument amounts to claiming that a peaceful society shouldn't need police because everyone should be persuaded not to commit crimes. That's an argument against reality, not capitalism. Socialism is guns on offense.
If capitalism were truly persuasive as a system of governance, it would never need any guns for offense or defense. All that would be needed for capitalism to survive is a pen. History has shown that capitalism is not persuasive without guns.

Brilliant.
Healthcare will never be free. Someone always pays, and government control doesn't eliminate costs. It adds bureaucracy, waste, and political favoritism. As for wages, try improving your skills, productivity, and bargaining power instead of demanding politicians decree your labor more valuable. Historically, revolutionaries rebelled against state power. Your idea of revolution is giving the state more power over everyone's lives and demanding it confiscate their earnings to provide for you. You're not rebelling against authority. You're begging to lick its boots.

$732.9 BILLION. That’s how much the Canadian federal government is projected to borrow over the next five years. And apparently, most Canadians aren’t particularly concerned. It’s Wednesday, which means another edition of my weekly 1-1-1 newsletter: one comment on taxation, one on leadership and one on economics/politics. This week’s edition examines a common problem running through all three: governments and leaders who can’t say no, even when the consequences of constantly saying yes are staring them in the face. On economics and politics, the Parliamentary Budget Officer projects $732.9 billion in federal borrowing over five years, with annual debt charges reaching $83 billion by 2030-31. That’s approximately $1,952 per Canadian, every year, just to service the federal debt. Meanwhile, an Abacus poll puts approval of the Carney government at 59%. That boggles my mind. The government’s response will undoubtedly involve more talk about balancing its “operating budget.” As I’ve written repeatedly, splitting operating and capital spending is a deceptive accounting trick that allows governments to claim fiscal discipline while borrowing continues. Debt is debt is debt. And interest bills don’t disappear because politicians change the labels. On taxation, I look ahead to the November 5, 2026 federal budget. The House of Commons finance committee received 1,351 written briefs and produced 130 recommendations, including at least 15 calling for new, expanded or extended tax credits and similar incentives. Oh brother. The same committee also recommended a comprehensive review of Canada’s tax system. Apparently, the solution to our ridiculously complicated tax system is to make it even more complicated. Contrast that with the C.D. Howe Institute’s recent Shadow Budget, which proposes genuine structural reform: lower tax rates, fewer credits, a broader tax base and meaningful spending restraint. On leadership, I examine why the hardest word for many leaders is “no.” Whether it’s an employee demanding a raise, a department lobbying for a bigger budget or a client demanding more attention, every yes consumes resources that can’t be spent elsewhere. Every yes to the loud is often a quiet no to someone who isn’t in the room. And that brings me to this week’s bonus quote from former British prime minister Tony Blair: “The art of leadership is saying no, not yes. It is very easy to say yes.” Exactly. A yes is a gift to the person asking. A no is often a gift to everyone else. Good leadership isn’t about keeping everyone happy. It’s about making difficult choices before the bills come due. Canada needs massive income and business tax cuts. Canada ranks 28th out of 38 OECD countries on income tax competitiveness. Canada ranks 17th on business taxes. We're behind the U.S. on both. High taxes make life more expensive and hurt our economy.

Not only that but she would be appalled if someone suggested the Green Party shouldn't exist.
If I went up and said a speech like this, I would be arrested by the RCMP for hate speech. This young lady needs to understand what she just did. Suggesting that the basic existence of people like myself who are conservatives should no longer be allowed to exist is hate speech. She needs to resign immediately.

Many of the things that make a country rich are invisible.  You can’t see or touch property rights, the rule of law or the ease of doing business. That makes them easy to overlook. People talk about natural resources, but pay much less attention to whether ordinary people can start and run businesses without facing senseless rules and regulations. People are much more willing to invest when their property is protected and the same rules apply to everyone, including politicians. If you’re afraid an official could take your land or shut down your business, you’re going to think twice before risking your savings. A country can have plenty of natural resources and still make it hard for its people to prosper.

Well said.
Let’s hope not. What a disaster for Canada if this should occur. Carney has no right to impose his personal career goals on all of Canada, especially as they will be detrimental for Cdns. What a useless objective on which to spend so much energy & political capital.

Well done. Priceless.

Great line.
If labor created value, digging a hole and filling it back in would be a booming industry. Menger sorted this out in 1871. Marxists are still digging.

Jealousy makes you nasty, and none more so than socialist scum whose entire worldview is based upon hating the people who provide for them.
Since Trump’s election: -Musk got $680 billion richer -Musk became the 1st trillionaire -SpaceX got $10 billion in federal contracts -Tesla & SpaceX paid $0 in federal income taxes Now, Musk’s spending $442 million to keep Republicans in control of Congress. Gee, I wonder why?

I urge every Canadian taxpayer to support the CTF. They do great work.
The government wastes your money like crazy, but here’s the biggest waste of your tax dollars: Paying interest on the debt. Carney plans to borrow tens of billions of dollars every year. You’ll pay interest on every dollar the Carney government borrows.

Elon Musk: "At its heart, wokeness is divisive, exclusionary, and hateful. It basically gives mean people a shield to be mean and cruel, armored in false virtue." There's really nothing more I could add to that.
