Exe-tober day 28: Possession
It's rushed cuz like I had no original idea-

this dead miles design is similar to the one seen in round 2's gallery (not to be confused with the noncanonical one from the main game), but the light blue parts of his fur are now white and he no longer has a mouth.
much like how the start of the video showcases the different levels (albeit blocked off), the end now sets up the next video with rewrite flying the tornado to angel island and miles' level becoming inaccessible.
some changed details in the new drowning scene:
- miles glitches and turns red
- the player stands further from his soul and is seemingly more hesitant to grab it
- the screen fades before we see the ring make contact with rewrite
- their lives icon disappears early in the fade
additionally, the flashed frame of rewrite's face when miles runs off in "sonic gameplay" is removed in "sonic hide n seek."
in the new chase scene, the player follows miles until he's out of reach, only then deciding to go for the lake after a moment of visible confusion. in the original, he disappears into the fog and they immediately decide not to pursue him directly.
miles closes his eyes and trembles when the player goes to select him the second time. since he was immediately killed in "sonic gameplay," this is yet another SHnS-exclusive detail.
perhaps the most notable addition in "sonic hide n seek" is that rewrite can (and does) actually lose. their defeat animation is obviously a reference to "trinity."
fun fact: their pupils shake with rage in the newest animation. also, bonus rewrite V2 stomp for full comparison.
speaking of new animations, rewrite has a unique animation/pose for when they jump high off a spring, as opposed to just curling up into a ball like before:
this version of the "let's play a game" terrain was first seen in "thriller gen encore" (revisualized, then round 2). the grass is more visible and the trees and shrubs are better-lit than in the original video.
as seen above, rewrite's running animation has been made more sonic-like, acting as a circular motion that speeds up with time. meanwhile, their animation in "sonic gameplay" was a consistent jog.
the level select menu is exclusive to "sonic hide n seek," as "gameplay" just jumps straight into green hills. the visuals are mostly the same as round 2's menu, but the music, sound effects, and static are different. the level names also aren't displayed in SHnS like in round 2.
