Don't Tell Me You're "Not Creative" When real-life sensations wake you from your dreams—a distant laugh, a stomachache, a wafting stench—your brain integrates them into the dream. Sometimes, this makes for hilarious, nonsensical narratives. Other times, terrifying, memorable nightmares. Either way, these are your mind's unconscious creative powers at work. Anxiety. Excitement. Longing. These all require high levels of imagination. With or without your participation, your psyche is always making things up. An artist is simply someone who chooses to consciously participate in this process. Vironika Wilde

Body Envy You know what's worse than envying other people? Envying your own damn self. Post-selfie obsession over the best shots, wishing there was never any other angle. Green-eyeing someone gorgeous across the room and realizing only near-collision that it's a mirror. Looking at old photos knowing you were uncomfortable inside that skin and still feeling it must be better than the skin you have now. Finding clothes that no longer fit, brimming with nostalgia for non-existent past peace. Watching your body become a product, like a baby kitten packaged in a cardboard box—it doesn't matter how cute it is if it can't breathe. Knowing all this enough to avoid the trap but not the pain. Most of all, keeping it all inside. Laughing together while silently suffering the same way. Vironika Wilde
