Had a conversation with my dad about the “diversity” projects I’m already being asked to do in grad school. His response:
“Are your white classmates required to do the same or are they allowed to focus on their studies in peace?”
Damn.

I'm writing an abstract for a conference I was unable to attend until it was moved online which is great but, frankly, a little frustrating. I/many disabled academics aren't able to travel easily and virtual meetings weren't considered viable until abled people needed them 🤔

I want universities to offer orientation sessions for parents of 1st generation college students.
There is something special about honoring parents who are sending their kids to worlds they know nothing about.
Does anyone do this? #question

Dear @GordonConf :
Please make #PowerHour part of the main program instead of part of “free time.” It suggests that diversity and inclusion is less important than the science, and this is not the right message to send.

Just in case you needed a reminder:
You’re doing great.
You’re not alone.
Don’t give up.
We’re rooting for you.
Things can still get better.
It’s not the end of the world.
A little progress is still progress.
You’re trying. That’s all that matters.
