Wails v3 has been years in the making, shaped by people building real applications throughout the alphas and betas. Here’s what’s new: • Multiple windows, each with its own content and configuration. • Native menus and system tray applications. • Modular Go services with startup and shutdown hooks, exposed to your frontend through generated JavaScript and TypeScript bindings. • An in-app updater. • Builds you can inspect and customise through Taskfiles. • A guided setup flow and new documentation. Wails runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, using the platform’s WebView without bundling a browser with every application. iOS and Android support is experimental. alpha.72 fixed a painful one: wails3 build and wails3 dev hanging 20–30 min on projects with heavy JS deps (MUI etc). Cause: go-task's sources: "*/" was checksumming every file in node_modules/ — 50–100k+ files on NTFS. Fix: exclude node_modules/. Builds are instant again.
