I was interviewed by @nytimes on how corruption and authoritarianism worsened the devastating Derna flood, shedding light on corruped elites' role in hampering infrastructure in a climate-challenged country.
The failure to repair the two dams in Libya that unleashed an avalanche of water on the city of Derna, killing at least 4,000 people, reflects the corruption that has long plagued the country.
