The dot-com bust crushed the Nasdaq in 2000, but my KJ Custom strategy kept advancing.
And this isn't survivorship-biased data. I'm using historical index constituents, not today's winners retroactively.
A good reminder of why realistic backtesting matters.

I asked Claude to design an indicator for detecting parabolic blow-off moves.
It created a 0–100 "Blowoff Score" combining accelerating momentum, price extension, expanding ranges, and volume.
But could an AI-generated indicator actually be useful?
I tested it across the historical trades of one of my WealthLab strategies.
The result surprised me 👇
As the Blowoff Score approached 80, average trade profitability deteriorated dramatically.
I ultimately added a filter to avoid entries with scores of 70+ — which would have avoided some of the strategy's biggest recent losers.
AI didn't find the edge.
It helped me formulate the hypothesis.
