"Uncle Wes, man, he's everybody's uncle," Karl-Anthony Towns told me. I asked what Wes does for the Knicks. "Think about an uncle, man—he does everything." My story for @NYMag on World Wide Wes, Leon Rose and the friendship behind the Knicks' title: nymag.com/intelligencer/arti…

The Brewers:
Two Kenosha brothers who paid $1,000 each for a Milwaukee Brewers "Timeless Ticket" more than a decade ago say the team isn't fully honoring the promise that came with it — the chance to sit in the best available seats for a game as big as the World Series. More at the link in o

Tuckahoe officially appointed its new boys basketball coach tonight. And, even though he hasn't coached a varsity HS game in 23 years, it's a very familiar name. Chris Ward takes over at Tuckahoe. A longtime AAU and player development coach, @CWB20 is back in Section 1

I actually like Stephen A doing his own thing. It makes it more of a choice to consume him or not. Whereas with McAfee if you want to watch the pregame or whatever you stuck with him
Bill Simmons says it’s interesting seeing how ESPN treats Pat McAfee compared to Stephen A. Smith these days. You see McAfee cross-promoting on almost every show across the network as a massive PR push. On the other hand, it feels like Stephen A. Smith just does First Take and then focuses on his own independent shows outside of ESPN, which seems to define their current relationship with him

I’m glad the NFL is cracking down on this. Kids watch these games. No need for stuff like this in the NFL presented by DraftKings. Let the kids find out about beer the way they should… through the hundreds of NFL sponsored Bud Light commercials per game.
Another round: Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson was fined $13,611 for what the NFL said was his “imitation of shotgunning a beer” Sunday vs. Washington that “constituted an offensive demonstration and could reasonably could be construed as being in poor taste.”

A full-circle moment. Ten years ago, we taught our middle school class about Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the wealthiest Black person in the world. Today, we had the opportunity to sit down with him to discuss his historic IPO, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery

“That’s what it should look like that’s what your brain says it should look like.” Most honest thing he said. It’s called implicit bias. His brain sees Herbert and tells him that’s a QB. His brain sees Hurts and tells him something else (explains random tee shirt comment)
"Why do you love quarterbacks who haven't done it versus those who have? Why do you love Herbert… why do you not love Hurts?" – Evan Cohen to Dan Orlovsky
