During the 2008/09 Test series against New Zealand at the Gabba, Australia’s Andrew Symonds was awarded an incredible eight runs off a single delivery bowled by Iain O’Brien!
Umpire Rudi Koertzen had to improvise, raising eight fingers to signal the addition of eight runs to both Symonds’ personal tally and Australia’s total - two more than the conventionally recognised maximum in cricket!
