Moving day, minus the boxes.
You can now copy your content from Miro, FigJam, Excalidraw, Lucidchart, tldraw, and more. Then paste it into Whimsical. No redrawing. No exporting.
Every workspace has a few dark and dusty corners, so we’ve added 2 new MCP tools to make workspace cleanup easier:
🔎 Find files by when they were created or modified
📁 Move them somewhere less dark

more magic in Whimsical Docs
the obvs final step was adding expansion to nested folders in @whimsical docs. i'm a 🤏 biased, but i haven’t used anything that does this better.

i'm happy to announce image cropping in @whimsical docs, which also means admitting we didn’t have image cropping in docs.

you no longer need to navigate back and forth between nested docs in @whimsical. you can simply expand them inline and see what's inside!
Whimsical can snap everything to a grid, which is exactly what you want 95% of the time.
This post is about the other 5%.
When you need something right there, not 12 pixels to the left. Or when you look at your board and something just feels…off.

We built syntax highlighting in Whimsical Boards with speed in mind. It uses Shiki’s Oniguruma engine which runs on WASM. Highlighting updates are incremental, so typing in a large code block is still smooth. On top of that we've our custom-built rich text editor and it's all rendered on canvas via a highly optimized tiled renderer.

We've released a few handy upgrades to code blocks:
-Syntax highlighting is finally here!
-There’s also a brand-new standalone code object.
-Languages are now detected automatically by default.
-And you can add code blocks inside shapes and sticky notes, too.
Time in the cloud moves fast. Leave your cloud icon library alone for long enough, and you have a museum of discontinued services.
We’ve given the AWS and Azure icon libraries a very overdue refresh. Off with AAD, OpsWorks and Snowmobile. On with Entra, Bedrock and Amazon Q.
