But the gap is widest where most people in need live. In low- and middle-income countries, only 4% of people in need receive specialised palliative care. Monday's poll: did you guess less than 25%?

There is real progress. Between 2017 and 2025, specialised palliative care services grew from approx. 25,000 to 33,720. The number of patients served rose from almost 7 million to over 10.4 million.
