ALT Gentle Wood Wander By: B.A. Wilcox The gentle wood entices us all, To wander and wonder among the trees And bask in the effervescence of autumn, Beneath changeling branches and leaves Of which color is a veritable banquet, A feast of many shapes and hues, Accompanied by the coolest of breezes Whispering of summer having had its fun, And now done, the days start to shrink As the night patiently softly swells; The animals begin their bustle and prep For the incoming long winter’s nap. It is a season of splendor and change That ripples as if a stone in a still pond Into the souls of those blessed to behold it That makes us wonder and wander on.

ALT The weather turns, the sun spends less Time among us, the seasonal zest It hovers in the air which carries a chill, To some a warning, to others a thrill. The leaves start to drop, And so do the people, And for those poor souls They're brought to the steeple To witness the end 'neath sacred eaves; The hearse draws near, so I take my leave.
