Maidenhair Fern near Lisdoonvarna, growing on the wall of a gorge on shale/siltstone bedrock. Possibly the 1st record in the locality since the mid-1800's. Interesting that aforementioned record has it growing on 'the coal measures', an antiquated term for the shale geology
Looking forward to this…@CuanBeo
Lot of excitement for Cuan Beo's cookery demos at Cruinniú @GalwayHookers!! We've got a wonderful programme!

A Woodwasp, stunning creature. I’d not heard of one & so am grateful to @Jessica_Ham92 for the post. There’s lots to learn about our biodiversity in ireland and beyond and we need to do all we can to assist w/research and conservation, before it’s too late.

Looking for some good news? This is the most extraordinary wildlife sighting - right whales have not been seen off Ireland in more than 100 years!
Breaking news! Sighting reports sent to IWDG July 15th in Donegal Bay confirm exceptionally rare record of a North Atlantic Right whale for the North East Atlantic, and a 1st for the IWDG with supporting photo evidence. Full story 👉

Many fish stocks are depleted or under pressure with devastating knock-on effects for economies & wildlife.
However, Irish waters are home to many important spawning grounds 🐟🐠

Crexcellent news this morning as 2023 survey data shows a 35% increase in critically endangered corncrakes in Ireland over the past five years. 218 breeding territories were recorded this year - that's up 10% on last year, and for the first time in a decade it exceeds 200 sites.
Tomatoes that came out exactly as they said on the tin, I mean packet ! thanks @MadsMcKeever at brown envelope seeds, just divine .
