Why is it ‘cancelled’ in the U.K. but ‘canceled’ in the U.S.?
Because we gave them that L in 1776.
The PBS NewsHour has documented the Trump family's unprecedented conflicts of interest. Jared Kushner, a 'volunteer' with no official position, has $6 billion in assets from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar-the same governments he is negotiating with on Middle East peace. Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump have invested in drone companies that are now competing for Pentagon contracts in the war their father started.
Forbes estimated that Eric and Don Jr., they were worth about $40, $50 million each before the 2024 election. About a year later, Eric at $400 million and Donald Trump Jr. at about $300 million.
They're using war and diplomacy to enrich themselves

When the church caesarizes the Messiah, it loses the gospel. When it messianizes Caesar, it gains a tyrant.

Hey if presidents are going to threaten to wipe out civilizations, I think congress should at least vote on it...

If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.

Call me crazy, but it seems like maybe we are at the stage where Congress should be voting on whether or not our President may wipe out an entire civilization.
I don’t think the War Powers Act covers that one.

That one can excuse or ignore this while claiming to be “pro-life” is a sign of a seared conscience. God have mercy on us all.

Illinois is holding on every single offensive play. Every one.
I’m sitting right here. Watching it in real time.
Shane Beamer is losing it for a reason and he’s exactly right.

The obsession with Keller from the “negative world” espousing and “shepherds for sale” fans would be fascinating if it weren’t grotesque.
Why does this man who devoted his life to preaching the gospel in a hostile place make you so angry?
Do you hate the idea that grace is wide enough for New York liberals?
Do you hate his message that your sins surpass your best deeds and you’re desperate for mercy?
I attended a service around 2008 where Keller did a Q&A for the audience after the service.
Attendees could ask anything. So of course, one of the first was about homosexuality.
Keller said (I am paraphrasing): “In order to get on the same page, I need to know if we agree that Jesus rose from the dead. If not, let’s sort that out first. If so…” and then he went on to make an argument for the biblical sexual ethic. It was a teleological argument — the body has a purpose, tells a story, both in pursuit of the family and in representation of the gospel. It was a complementarian argument, now that I think about it.
He did this in Hunter College Auditorium, on front of hundreds of people. But not in front of a denominational jury, or for social media, and certainly not to impress right wing ghouls who build their platform crapping on him from great heights. He was pastoring. And it was profound and beautifully stated.
Replying to @JustinEGiboney
Basham also attacks the late Tim Keller, who preached about absolute truth, sexual ethics, and the sanctity of life in one of the the most secular spaces in America.
Meanwhile, his posthumous detractors spend their time throwing red meat and preaching to an ever-shrinking choir.

Shameful and disgraceful. A great Christian man who lived through his children barely surviving a school shooting.
Southern Baptists, how much more of this are you going to let go on?
You cannot pretend not to see what is happening in your name.

We can be deeply grateful Trump’s life was spared and still strongly wish we had different presidential candidates. Humans really are capable of nuance. Trolls are not. But humans are.

The SBC's decline corresponds with the shift towards fundamentalism and away from evangelicalism. What was a big-tent conservative group is becoming a narrow fundamentalist group. I do not anticipate the SBC changing course any time soon. Thus, declines will continue. #SBC24

Neither major candidate for president is fit for the office, and no amount of emphasizing the unfitness of one will convince me of the fitness of the other. And there are lots like me. You can get mad at us, blame us for your guy’s loss, whatever. But the emperors are naked. 🤷🏻♂️

We should have spent our time and energy hunting wolves instead of guarding institutions.
The SBC is essentially a billion dollar organization which believes it does not exist -- which allows SBC leaders to deny any responsibility when things go wrong

If you’ve attacked Beth Moore and have remained silent about Paul Pressler then your theology is garbage.
Will Gerrald retweeted
One reason the SBC is in need of deep, systemic reform:
Paul Pressler was a hero - and it’s still unusual to see anything more than silence or indirect critique.
Beth Moore was a heretic - and it’s still common to see her unfairly attacked.
It doesn’t take a PhD in Biblical studies to see there’s something terribly wrong here.
