The end of #Ebola outbreaks can be accurately declared without complete contact tracing data, according to a new study.
This approach, tested on outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, helps balance societal benefits and resurgence risks. scim.ag/7Ak

📣 Check out our latest research paper!
A research paper by a group including iBLab has been published in the international scientific journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (@PNASNews).
We have developed a new model to calculate the probability of localized clusters occurring, taking into account individual variations in virus infection dynamics.👍
Our model has unveiled that screening infected individuals through antigen testing is effective in significantly decreasing the probability of cluster occurrence. However, it is not adequate to prevent clusters caused by highly infectious mutant strains, such as Omicron variants of COVID-19.
This study is a collaborative effort between disciplines and countries, involving Oxford University (UK) @willhart96 , @RobinNThompson and Pukyong National University (South Korea).🤝

Excellent study led by @willhart96 estimating the #COVID19 generation time in the UK, using data from @PHE_uk. This distribution characterises the time between someone being infected and passing on the virus. medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
