Launched 10th app into prod on cloud native platform the statcan.gc.ca main website. Powered by OSS @CloudNativeFdn tech namely @kubernetesio and secured by Istio. Autoscaling thanks to stateless design leveraging Azure Files / Managed DB. Arch: bit.ly/3wN49fa
Does anyone in the GoC know about if we ever going to get a new GCWeb theme that isn’t bootstrap 3 and using jQuery. A modern one using bootstrap 5 and web components would be ideal.
Was pointed to github.com/cds-snc/gcds-comp… which while not bootstrap uses web components and is kind of what I wanted 🙂
Playing with the OpenText Extended ECM helm chart and it mostly works on Azure AKS though everyone set your service type defaults to ClusterIP please 🙂
Very excited for the possible potential of ARC GIS Enterprise for Kubernetes providing on demand workloads tied into Kubeflow and other tooling for AAW Data Analytics as a Service. Could be a game changer! @Esri @CloudNativeFdn
It’s been so awesome hearing the positive feedback on the Protected B workloads rollout in our Data Analytics as a Service Platform (AAW) running on @CloudNativeFdn tooling! @zachomedia did amazing work on the github.com/StatCan/aaw-secur… outlining some of key design considerations
Not to mention the awesome work done by our data scientists on improving the platform in ways we didn’t think about. Because of this our internal cloud offering will be even stronger. Very keen to see the uptake on @argoproj tooling namely Argo Workflows and ArgoCD

Obviously we stand on the shoulder of giants and the biggest benefit that @CloudNativeFdn et al offers us is the largest, incredibly supportive and most diverse community around.
I’m amazed at the friendships that have been formed from people across various enterprises.
The ability to manage a growing num of apps no matter the complexity through common conventions and to empower app developers to own their app from dev to prod can’t be overstated primarily for an organization with thousands of employees and different business requirements.
Kubernetes is used as an authoritative API for the cloud where with most managed services we don’t have to worry about infra and can seamlessly integrate other PAAS and Serverless tech where appropriate. All while supporting a unified declarative model and any type of workload.
Cloud Native platform supports polyglot workloads and empowers app teams to easily promote their app through SDLC (dev,test,prod) while gaining implicit guardrails and baked in security without adjustment to their app. Since factory is approved protb much quicker time to market.
Pretty exciting seeing our Data Analytics as a Platform take off thanks to amazing OSS tooling like @kubernetesio, @kubeflow, @Minio and @HashiCorp vault. Soon notebook snapshotting, i18n, and protected b workloads coming! Just getting started!

Seeing how @Apple is modernizing using Kubernetes + Cloud Native technologies and the reasons behind it is pretty inspiring. Love that the cost savings and amazing community were the key factors :D
