Word is Dan knew by the 2nd fall scrimmage that the offense was going to struggle
Going into the Oklahoma State game Drew was already on a short leash
The process to get rid of Drew kicked off after Oklahoma State 😳

By my count, the Quenton Nelson trade leaves the Seahawks with 10 picks in next year's draft. That includes a third-round compensatory pick for Nolan Teasley and four other comp picks that @nickkorte projects them to receive.
That obviously made the Nelson trade more feasible.

Dan Lanning was 3-for-3 on his major coordinator hires before Drew Mehringer.
• Kenny Dillingham → Arizona State HC
• Will Stein → Kentucky HC
• Tosh Lupoi → Cal HC
All three became Power Four head coaches, and Chris Hampton has also impressed so far.
I trust Lanning to get this next OC hire right.

1996 was Bellotti’s first season as HC
2006 led Oregon to hire Chip Kelly.
2016 Changed Oregons philosophy to make recruiting nationally a top priority
The last 3 have triggered major leaps forward in the Program. If the pattern holds true, what’s the next leap?

Absolutely love Quenton Nelson going to the Seahawks to immediately boost the run game:
*Seahawks runs aimed at left B Gap: 2.75 yards per carry
*Colts runs aimed at left B gap: 5.90 yards per carry
*Long reel of Nelson (LG/56) making a bunch of different blocks in '26

Notable John Schneider in-season trade acquisitions:
Marshawn Lynch (2010)
Duane Brown ('17)
Quandre Diggs ('19)
Carlos Dunlap ('20)
Leonard Williams ('23)
Ernest Jones IV ('24)
Rashid Shaheed ('25)
Quenton Nelson ('26)
One of the league's most aggressive GMs, at it again.

If Oregon decides to pursue a QB in the transfer portal this offseason, these are five names I think make the most sense:
— Gio Lopez
— Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele
— Austin Simmons
— Braden Atkinson
— Kamario Taylor
Would you add anyone else?

Seattle would net a 2028 3rd if they let Q walk after the year so they basically only lose a 5 for one of the top linemen in the league
Incredible business by SEA

I broke down how Oregon moves forward at QB this season and beyond at the position with the news of Dante Moore not expecting a return per Dan Lanning.

Dan Lanning says that Jay Johnson will be the main play caller for the Oregon Ducks going forward this year.

I don’t think the Norvell to Oregon as OC idea is getting enough discussion.
- FSU will soon move on from Norvell.
- Norvell is elite OC.
- Lanning and Norvell have history at Memphis.
- A couple strong seasons at Oregon make Norvell a top HC candidate again.
✍️ My first trip for The Athletic was to Memphis in 2017. On that staff, I met:
Mike Norvell
Dan Lanning
Kenny Dillingham
Ryan Silverfield
All now head coaches of top-25 teams. So I reconnected with them to look back.

There’s not an appetite from teams to trade a 1st-round pick for Jonathan Taylor, per @AdamSchefter on @PatMcAfeeShow.
The Colts won’t move Taylor unless they’re blown away by an offer.
The most Indianapolis could realistically net is a 2027 2nd + 3rd.
